  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Responsible for secretarial duties of the department, patient arrival/front reception duties and answers department phone. Responsible for peripheral lab draws as needed to assist patient flow through the department.

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Responsible for front desk including:
      a. Greeting each patient upon arrival with a smile, making eye contact
      b. Explains patient consent and privacy notice on patient arrival
      c. Arrives patient in computer and instructs patient on process to subwait, escorts to subwait, etc
      d. Verifies and updates patient information including address, phone number and physician information, scans insurance cards.
    • Provides secretarial assistance to department supervisor/manager including assisting in compiling monthly/quarterly reports as directed.
    • Initiates solutions to department needs without prompting such as taking part in computer projects or proposing changes to processes to improve efficiencies, maintenance of bulletin boards and distribution of memos/mail.
    • Responsible for training others and willingly cross trained in other duties in department to facilitate smooth and efficient operations when volume fluctuates.
    • Answers department phone within 3 rings with a customer friendly voice, takes accurate messages, assists the caller in timely, professional manner. Provides follow up to phone calls. Routinely checks voice mails and transcribes any messages, forwarding calls appropriately and returning phone calls as indicated.
    • Maintains clerical supplies, coordinates ordering of supplies within budget , taking inventory to assess supply needs on a routine basis.
    • Assembles agenda and takes minutes at staff meetings, maintains departmental file of meetings.
    • Prepares and prints patient registration packets, reviews and prepares for following day schedule.
    • Keeps reception area and subwait area neat and tidy.
    • Performs venipuncture per standards, maintaining correct patient identification and specimen labeling.
    • Other duties as assigned.
