  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Coordinate the care of the patient in a physicians office on a daily basis including preparation of medical chart, returning phone calls, ordering tests and prescriptions and collecting pertinent insurance information. Can assist patients to exam rooms and collect vital signs. Coordinate the surgical scheduling of the patient in the physicians office for the appropriate location. Obtains surgical codes, authorization, schedules the patients cardiac and medical clearances, prepares the chart and films, forwards information to pre-op, schedules patient for pre-op interview and makes follow up surgical appointment.

    • Education
      • Preferred: College Courses/Higher Education

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Prepares patient charts timely and accurately.
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions and reports suspected violations.
    • Collects and processes all necessary paperwork assuring appropriate report and medical documentation.
    • Faxes, copies and/or forwards necessary information to insurance companies, other physician offices and other facilities as necessary.
    • Follows up on pathology reports needed to complete chart preparation or physician notification.
    • Enters and discharges patient information from the computer with records completed accurately and in a timely manner.
    • Obtains medical history including vital signs and current medications and assists physicians so that appropriate preparation, examination and diagnostic testing occur without error and without delay.
    • Assists with rooming patients from front office into exam room when necessary.
    • Performs scribe duties if applicable.
    • Assists with confirming patient appointments.
    • Assists with medical and office supply ordering.
    • Communicates appropriate information to the physician.
    • Documents pertinent patient information, actions taken and physician orders in the medical record for physician review and signature.
    • In collaboration with other facilities ensures that all preoperative testing is scheduled and completed appropriately and timely per physician order.
    • Obtains physician signatures on appropriate documents.
    • Assists with requesting authorization for PPO patient studies.
    • Obtains surgical codes for insurance authorization timely and accurately.
    • Ensures that surgery schedule is updated timely and accurately.
    • Follow up with patients post-operatively and assists with scheduling post op visits.
    • Tracks surgical orders and ensures pre-op and main OR have necessary documentation.
    • Answers patients questions and requests in a timely and respectful manner.
    • Assists with the release of patient records and films to patients.
    • Processes physician referrals to other offices.
    • Other duties as assigned.
