Job Objective:

Responsible for collaboration with division leaders and its clinics for planning, implementation, and optimization of technology in support of improved patient care through project leadership The position provides strategic oversight and support of Epic optimization using the Epic electronic health record (EHR) and leads other divisional projects benefiting Eisenhower health centers, patients, providers and staff The Director will work closely with the VP of Ambulatory on execution of divisional strategic planning involving key objectives and aims.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and Compliance Policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
  • Develops and achieves departmental goals and objectives. Establishes, implements and maintains policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates care, treatment and services among the hospital system’s different programs, service sites, and departments and physicians and integrates services within.
  • Collaborates across clinical and operational areas in maintaining emergency management procedures.
  • Provides for a sufficient number and mix of qualified and competent staff to support safe, quality care, treatment and services. Determines qualifications, competence levels and standards of performance.
  • Selects, trains/orients, directs, coaches, evaluates effectiveness and competence of staff either directly or through subordinate supervisor to promote safety and quality.
  • Designs work processes and changes existing processes to focus individuals on safety, quality, and improves performance of the hospital system and involves staff and patients in the process.
  • Provides for equipment, supplies, resources and space needed to support the safety and quality of care, treatment and services. Participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
  • Ensures compliance with recommendations and requirements from external agencies such as accreditation, certification/licensing and other regulatory bodies.
  • Ensures that staff consistently provides safe and high quality patient care and/or other support services that are valued by patients, physicians and each other.
  • Achieves a high level of employee, patient and physician engagement/satisfaction.
  • Ensures efficiency, productivity and sufficient financial resources, including adequate reserves, to meet all current and projected financial requirements.
  • Role models the organization’s mission, vision, values and True North. Complies with and ensures hospital-wide Supporting Commitments are adhered to.
  • Develops appropriate tools/templates to guide and standardize project work activities.
  • Ensures projects are managed to expected constraints of time, cost, quality and scope.

  • Manages a team of direct-report staff; directing work duties and making assignments.
  • Builds team cohesion and aligns staff to vision and mission of the Center.
  • Continuously develops project staff through mentoring, coaching, training, external professional development and shared lessons learned.
  • Establishes and implements key metrics indicators that measure project performance.
  • Conducts periodic project audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Maintains an awareness and in-depth knowledge of current innovative technology and products related to organizations EHR to improve user experience/efficiency.
  • Selects and manages qualified vendors and other contract services.
  • Participates in various committees aimed at optimizing our business, clinical and technological framework.
  • Establishes expectations, monitor milestones, and support roll out of new functionality across the Ambulatory Division network.
  • Works collaboratively with Care Coordination leadership specifically on attaining and maintaining Patient Centered Medical Care Home accreditation through project leadership and EHR system implementation.
  • Assists in implementation EHR platforms that provide infrastructure for value based care models to achieve the quintuple aim of improving population health, enhancing the care experience, reducing costs, addressing care team burnout, and advancing health equity.
  • Project management and technical leadership for EHR innovation and optimization projects, representing the interests of the Ambulatory Division and health system on all relevant EHR/IT projects and workgroups.
  • Provides mentorship, direction and support to the ambulatory division for ongoing and ad-hoc projects related to data governance, health information exchange, EHR and support systems upgrades, issues, and new build requests.
  • Leads or supports Ambulatory Division workgroups as appropriate. Develops general reports or dashboards as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Skils:

  • Ability to analyze information systems and data flow, creatively problem solve how best to exchange information between existing information systems
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Records, Epic ambulatory models preferred; ability to quickly learn the capabilities of software in use
  • Ability to work independently, as a team member, and with minimal supervision
  • Excellent leadership and mentoring skills
  • Ability to manage time, multitask and shift priorities in an ever changing environment
  • Knowledge of program development, planning, implementation and administration principles and practices
  • Ability to use available software to create and modify a variety of clinical reports, as needed and specified
