Job Objective:
Responsible for leading nursing excellence across the organization through the development, implementation and maintenance of best practices, evidence-based care and the successful achievement of recognized designations. Facilitates and oversees all programmatic aspects of acquiring and maintaining Magnet Designation & Practice Transition Accredited Program (PTAP) status by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center (ANCC). Also responsible for operational leadership and accreditation process management for the Simulation Center and any additional accreditation programs for the organization.

Education:
Required: Master's degree in Nursing
Preferred: Doctorate in Nursing
Licensure/Certification:
Required: California RN licensure; ANCC Approved Nursing Certification (NE-BC, NEA-BC, NPD-BC) or other relevant nursing certification
Experience:
Required: Five (5) years of experience in healthcare leadership and two (2) years of experience in ANCC accreditation processes
Preferred: Expertise in data analysis, quality reporting and performance improvement processes; experience in leading nursing excellence initiatives, with a track record of successful Magnet, PTAP or similar designation achievement and maintenance; experience in preparing and writing award and recognition applications
Essential Responsibilities:
- Provides leadership and strategic direction for the organization’s nursing excellence initiatives.
- Works closely with the executive team to integrate nursing excellence into the organization's mission and vision.
- Leads and mentors nursing staff to uphold the values of nursing excellence and best practices.
- Develops and implements initiatives aimed at achieving and maintaining recognized nursing designations.
- Participates in contracting and Information Systems technical reviews, maintaining and evaluating vendor contracts for essential services.
- Oversees all activities related to achieving and maintaining the ANCC Magnet, ANCC PTAP, and other related designations.
- Leads the development and submission of accreditation applications and documentation for Magnet, PTAP, and other awards.
- Develops and maintains a plan for continuous improvement aligned with best practices, including clinical quality, patient safety, patient engagement, and staff satisfaction.
- Conducts high quality literature reviews and develops written reports and action plans related to assessments of evidence-based practices and recommends changes in the clinical practice environment which may be required.
- Collaborates with other leaders in the collection and submission of nursing sensitive quality and patient safety indicators.
- Fosters collaboration among nursing staff, clinical leaders, and interdisciplinary teams to drive performance improvement.
- Coordinates with departmental leaders to support initiatives and improvements across nursing services.
- Leads educational initiatives for staff to prepare for and sustain the recognition standards and expectations.
- Facilitates interdepartmental communication and collaboration on shared goals related to nursing excellence.
- Manages the writing, submission, and follow-up of applications for various nursing awards and recognitions, including the ANCC Magnet, ANCC PTAP, and other related designations
- Ensures timely and accurate submission of all application materials, reports, and supporting documentation.
- Develops and maintains systems for tracking progress and evaluating success in meeting award standards.
- Analyzes clinical data, patient engagement, staff satisfaction surveys, and patient outcomes to ensure ongoing compliance with the criteria for recognition.
- Produces reports and presentations to executive leadership, highlighting progress toward goals and areas for improvement.
- Presents findings from organizational assessments and disseminates information in a variety of forums (oral, electronic, and written) to insure an accurate and timely flow of information related to accreditation statuses and evidence-based practices
- Performs a comprehensive assessment of the learning needs of the staff and physicians with respect to accreditation statuses and evidence-based practices and provides educational resources in collaboration with other organization leaders
- Drives the sustainability of recognized designations by fostering a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
- Continuously monitors, evaluates, and refines nursing practices to maintain accreditation standards.
- Performs formative and summative evaluation of programs related to accreditation statuses and evidence-based practices.
- Participates in, leads, conducts, and/or initiates special projects.
