  • Job Description: A brief statement of the position, including the general job duties.
    • Directs and oversees the financial performance of assigned departments through the annual operating budget process and leads necessary changes. Organizes and controls the capital operating budgets, making recommendations on operational needs through analysis of each department. Manages the surgery scheduling function and associated personnel. Assists in the development of the business case, including financials for new program development and capital projects. Increases operational efficiency by monitoring key operational and financial metrics for improvement opportunities. Collaborates with surgical procedure schedulers focusing on accurate data collection and customer service to increase surgical volume.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration or equivalent.
      • Preferred: MBA
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Epic certification
    • Experience
      • Required: Three (3) years in a multi-site healthcare environment; three (3) years direct supervision of staff; four (4) years predictive analytics, surgery cost and patient workflow analysis; three (3) years in process improvement (LEAN experience); two (2) years project management
      • Preferred: Knowledge of materials management contracting and payment schedules

  • Essential Job Specific Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Responsible for the accurate reporting and maintenance of various management tools/systems used for operational review and improvement. This includes systems such as the labor management system, budgeting/financial reporting system, costing/decision support system, capital/long-range planning system.
    • Responsible for developing, coordinating and continually improving assigned areas of the weekly/monthly statistical and financial reporting, customarily exercising discretion while working independently.
    • Responsible for the preparation of the annual operating budget, including analyzing variances to actual and determining and ensuring reasonableness by department, service line, and division, using independent judgment and discretion.
    • Acts as central contact and source of information and support for the assigned departments/areas concerning budget preparation and analysis.
    • Responsible for creating reports, analyzing data, and providing conclusions in response to ad hoc inquiries from leadership. Must regularly use independent judgment in determining appropriate reporting, analysis, and conclusions.
    • Responsible for researching and analyzing data for, and writing portions of, the monthly variance reports as assigned.
    • Supports the annual costing process and the development of departmental RVUs in addition to the maintenance of overhead statistics used in the allocation process.
    • Assists in performing Due Diligence on proposed ventures on an ad hoc basis.
    • Assists/backup to peers, consultants, auditors, etc.
    • Organizes and controls the Capital and Operating budget. In coordination with Materials Management, has oversight of clinical resource management (materials, inventory control, instruments, equipment).
    • Implements strategies which optimize operating room utilization.
    • Assists in the development and management of clinical systems related to surgical service fiscal maintenance and operations to include: information systems for surgical scheduling, materials management, instrumentation, charging, and purchasing.
    • Demonstrates positive interpersonal relations withal constituencies and cooperates harmoniously with others in the accomplishments of department goals in meeting the needs of quality patient care.
    • Maintains active communication among medical staff, interdepartmental staff, and perioperative staff.
    • Evaluates and coordinates vendor contract acquisitions and renewals in collaboration with Legal and Materials Management.
