    • Responsible for the development of the hospital’s Safety, Security, and Emergency Preparedness programs.  There will be a major emphasis on Environment of Care and regulatory readiness.  This position will oversee the Security department and staff.

    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement, Health Science, Industrial Hygiene or related field

      • Preferred: Master’s degree

    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Current CA Driver’s License with clean record

    • Experience
      • Required: Three (3) years of leadership experience in Health and Safety field in a healthcare environment.

  • Specific Skills, Knowledge, Abilities Required
    • Excellent knowledge of safety, Emergency management, security and law enforcement programs. Ability to plan teach and implement processes and programs related to job duties
    • Knowledge of Hospital Incident Command System (HICS) and ability to lead incident command training.
    • Excellent knowledge of OSHA, preferably CAL-OSHA, Joint Commission, and CDPH requirements
    • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written. Must be capable of dealing with physicians, patients, visitors and staff in a professional polite manner and in emergency situations
    • Proficient computer skills required. Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word, Excel and Power Point.
    • Excellent knowledge of Joint Commission standards (Environment of Care, Emergency Management, Leadership, and Performance Improvement) and other pertinent regulatory requirements with ability to translate into practice.
    • Knowledge of AB-508 and violence prevention
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, complex problem solving, team development, strategic planning and systems planning/ development/ improvement
    • Understanding of fundamentals of information systems and knowledge of computer word processing and spreadsheets
    • Knowledge of Employee Health regulatory requirements
  • Essential Job Specific Responsibilities
    • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff or provide care and/or department services.
    • Practices hospital-wide scripts and ensures scripting is being utilized in areas of responsibility.
    • Responsible for the daily management of the Safety, Security, and Emergency Management Services in compliance with Joint Commission, Title 22, and all required regulatory standards.
    • Chairs Safety, Security and Emergency Management Committees; provides reporting of security incidents and trends to Safety Committee, provides Safety Committee quarterly reports and annual evaluations to Quality Council.
    • Coordinates emergency activities with all regulatory agencies and hospital departments.
    • Oversees JCAHO preparedness in the facilities Departments. Conducts a quarterly audit and prepares an exception report on survey readiness.
    • Oversees and maintains of the emergency preparedness trailers and supplies.
    • Manages security patrols, patient valuables and Lost and Found processes, and departmental information systems.
    • Oversees and supervises the contract Security vendor.
    • Reviews and approves fiscal reports; provides management with monthly financial reports.
    • Resolves parking complaints, disputes, and claims in a timely and customer focused manner. If applicable, coordinates with Risk Management.
    • Oversees identification badge process for employees, contracted staff, medical staff, visitors, and vendors.
    • Manages investigations into misconduct and asset losses at hospital. Effectively interacts with appropriate disciplines (e.g. Administration, Risk, HR) to ensure timely coordination and legal compliance of investigative activities.
    • Trains or coordinates security staff on security matters and all staff in safety and emergency preparedness.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by the Administrative Director.
