  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • This is a management role responsible for managing all aspects of the daily operations of the Cancer Registry department and supervising all registry personnel and volunteers.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: 2 years college/equivalent
      • Preferred: Associate Degree or higher in Allied Health field or completion of a NCRA Accredited Formal Education Program
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Certified Tumor Registrar
    • Experience
      • Required: Supervisory experience & 2 years Registry experience (minimum)
      • Preferred: 3-5 years experience working in an ACOS accredited cancer registry program with participation in Commission on Cancer Surveys
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Manages daily operations of the Cancer Registry ensuring the ACOS Cancer Registry standards are maintained.
    • Coordinates the overall Cancer Program compliance with the ACOS Standards, including preparation of the Cancer Committee agenda, reports, minutes and follow up.
    • Provides essential support to Cancer Committee, Administration, and medical staff in the strategic planning, attainment and renewal of programic accreditations.
    • Plan and implement of Cancer Program Quality and Performance Improvement studies including criteria, procedures, data collection, data submission, reporting and follow up.
    • Annual Completion of the ACOS Commission on Cancer Survey Application Record (SAR).
    • Manages cancer registry information systems to maintain the data repository and create necessary reporting mechanisms.
    • Plan, create agendas, and coordinate hospital-wide and specialty Tumor Boards and monitor Tumor Board activity for compliance with ACOS Standards. Serves a liaison to the Tumor Board Physician Mediator to resolve issues as needed.
    • Coordinates and integrates services with other departments of the Lucy Curci Cancer Center
    • Plans, implements and maintains departmental budgetary goals.
    • Maintains regulatory compliance including ACOS Standards for case finding, abstracting timeliness, follow up, and quality control.
    • Assesses, plans, and implements process improvement strategies to continuously improve efficiency and effectiveness of service.
    • Establishes and manages external communication with physicians and office staff to monitor and maintain service, quality, satisfaction, and relationship management.
    • Oversee the production and distribution of the Cancer Program Annual Report.
    • Promotes use of Registry data and process reports in a timely manner.
    • Establishes and maintains policies for departmental operations.
    • Manages supplies to achieve service requirements and steward organizational resources.
    • Determines qualifications of departmental competence levels and standards of performance.
    • Selects, trains, directs, evaluates and counsels registry staff to attain the highest levels of performance.
    • Assures productivity of department.
    • Provides opportunities to promote knowledge of current cancer practice trends, ensures staff complete educational requirements and maintain certification.
    • Assures high level of employee and physician satisfaction.
