  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The Manager – Patient Access Ambulatory is responsible for the daily operations and Advanced Access initiatives designed to improve patient access for the ambulatory care clinics and the medical center. This position will integrate the access department services, scheduling, pre-registration, call center and ambulatory registration with the hospital functions. Responsible for providing leadership, implementing performance measures, process flows and re-design for target improvement of systems and processes.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business or related field, minimum five years management experience accepted in lieu of degree.
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Preferred: Project management certification
    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum two years management experience in Patient Access or healthcare related field.
      • Preferred: Minimum two years management experience in a Customer Service Center or Healthcare Call Center.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Assists Director and Management Team in hiring, counseling, evaluations, terminations, and overall personnel related situations.
    • Assesses department productivity to maintain efficiency in a cost effective manner.
    • Exercises complex problem solving techniques, data collection/data entry, and evaluation and reporting of statistical concepts, defining problems, establishing facts and draws valid conclusions.
    • Documents process flows and facilitates the completion of waste assessment activities.
    • Develops and disseminates project schedules, work plans appropriate to the level of a specific project.
    • Identifies and communicates issues/ and / or risks to the appropriate business leader. Takes corrective action to keep performance outcomes on track.
    • Assists with coordination of collection and validation of IT system requirements to support access improvement.
    • Utilizes knowledge of the Admitting process to evaluate and access impact to Revenue Cycle management. Provides resolution or solution to correct prices that have negative business impact on Hospital Accountability
    • Ensure that benefit verification and pre-certification/referral is completed timely and accurately manner (leveraging technology solutions) which supports comprehensive identification of payment sources for all rendered services, including patient financial responsibility balances resulting from deductibles, coinsurance, etc.
    • Processes customer communication, by means of receiving calls, meeting with customers, data input, written/verbal communication, problem delegation/resolution, process improvement, statistical reporting and presentation.
    • Oversees and promotes cost effective ordering and use of supplies
    • Assists Director and Leads in hiring, counseling, evaluations, terminations, and overall personnel related situations.
    • Oversees scheduling of all staff and enforces policies and procedures maintaining Eisenhower Medical Centers Standard of Care.
    • Manages and Monitors department monthly budget
    • Along with Department Director prepares annual Capital and Department Budget.
    • Ensures Departmental patient and employee satisfaction Benchmarks are achieved (Press Ganey Rankings)
    • Coordinates and approves Employee Performance Evaluations.
    • Ensure oversight and management of Overall Departmental day to day operations
    • Responsible for ensuring patient recovery and resolving departmental patient relation issues.
    • Provides overall 24/7 VIP Admitting and Registration.
    • Communicates and consults with hospital managers and Directors as it relates to improving patient satisfaction
    • Assesses department productivity to maintain efficiency in a cost effective manner.
