    • Education
      • Preferred: College courses
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Medical Assistant Course Completion if hired after November 3, 2019, American Heart Association BLS, CA State Phlebotomy license
      • Preferred: Medical Assistant Certificate
    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum one year experience as a CPT
      • Preferred: Previous office practice experience.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
    • Reviews all medical records prior to patient appointment to ensure recent scans, tests and lab results and progress notes are in the record
    • Organizes physician schedule so patients are efficiently placed in examination rooms at appropriate appointment times
    • Performs collection of information from patients such as vital signs, current medications and symptoms
    • Performs 12-Lead EKGs and application of Holter monitors
    • Communicates appropriate patient information to the physician and/or physician assistant
    • Ensures physician orders are taken accurately and followed in a timely manner
    • Documents pertinent patient information, actions taken and physician orders in the medical record
    • Coordinates medication refill requests with appropriate documentation
    • Monitors voicemail to return and route appropriate calls to physicians in a timely manner
    • Performs patient call backs with test results
    • Prepares exam rooms, maintaining cleanliness and organization in the examination rooms, including appropriate stock levels in each room
    • Collects specimens by venipuncture per established protocol
    • Prior to collection of specimens, asks patient to state name and date of birth to confirm identification for outpatients, and utilizes wristband identification system for inpatients
    • Orders and processes laboratory requests in accordance with established procedures to assure timely collection and reporting priorities
    • Utilizes time productively: maintains cleanliness (including disinfecting work area), reorders and restocks supplies, assists co-workers with tasks
    • Works closely with ordering nurses, physicians and EMC Infection Control to ensure that ambiguous or unusual test requests are handled appropriately
    • Complies with hospital and Laboratory safety policies and procedures
    • Complies with all State and federal regulations
    • Perform scribe duties if applicable.
    • Performs other duties as assigned
