  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Under general supervision, performs a variety of functions related to implanted cardiac device management. Performs implant checks for outpatients, including device troubleshooting and pre-emptive care. Provides follow up instruction and care to patients with implanted devices. Performs pacemaker parameter testing and remote monitoring, including the calculation of data and recognition of potential life threatening cardiac irregularities. Performs electrocardiograph and other related examinations for patients as directed according to established standards and practices. Assists in training and orienting staff.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in applicable field
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Heart Association BLS
    • Experience
      • Required: 3 years EKG experience: ability to decipher advanced heart block, sick sinus syndrome, SVT arrhythmia, and ventricular arrhythmia
      • Preferred: One year experience in a Device Clinic with heart failure management or Industry Device Company 
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
    • Performs pacemaker, defibrillator, and loop recorder evaluations to include; interrogation and analysis.
    • Reprograms cardiac devices and defibrillators as appropriate based on test results.
    • Maintains wound and device checks for post-op patients to include, staple/suture removal, patient education and device evaluation.
    • Generates, evaluates and triages reports for physician review.
    • Performs an independent daily review of remote transmission of the devices.
    • Communicates with patient to ensure that all clinical and remote device check data reports are accomplished and entered into the Paceart data base. Coordinates with Echocardiographer Technicians in obtaining Atrioventricular (AV) Optimization results.
    • Acts as a resource for technical and training support expertise to department and physicians.
    • Processes and ensures correct billing/coding for testing performed.
    • Perform other duties as outlined by physician or supervisor.
