The clinic patient care technician (PCT) has primary responsibility to room the patient to be prepared to be seen by the physician or physician assistant. The PCT performs non-clinical support function, such as cleaning of exam rooms, answering messages, working work queues, entering orders, and stocking of supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations

Essential Responsibilities
-
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.

Following standard work, assists patients to exam/procedure rooms; obtains patient reported medical and social history, vital signs and height and weight, as needed, patient reported allergy information and medication reconciliation information and records data in EHR.

Transcribes orders into the HER, such as films, x-ray, labs and other studies as appropriate, timely and accurately.

Processes patient referrals to other provider offices.

Prepares patient EMR charts timely and accurately.
-
Gathers reports, labs, studies, or other data pertinent to upcoming patient appointments.

Faxes and copies necessary information to insurance companies, other provider offices and other facilities as necessary.

Records information accurately and timely in the EHR.

Takes phone messages.
-
Prepares charts for clinic.
-
Works in-basket messages and work queues.
-
Maximizes use of free time between preparing patients and other tasks to clean and stock rooms, copy documents, and filing.

Obtains provider or patient signatures on appropriate documents.
-
Assists with medical and office supply inventory and ordering.
-
Follows the identified dress code and safety protocols to ensure patient and employee safety.
-
Maintains and practices professional boundaries with all patient and co-worker interactions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
