  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The clinic patient care technician (PCT) has primary responsibility to room the patient to be prepared to be seen by the physician or physician assistant. The PCT performs non-clinical support function, such as cleaning of exam rooms, answering messages, working work queues, entering orders, and stocking of supplies to ensure efficient clinic operations

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Following standard work, assists patients to exam/procedure rooms; obtains patient reported medical and social history, vital signs and height and weight, as needed, patient reported allergy information and medication reconciliation information and records data in EHR.
    • Transcribes orders into the HER, such as films, x-ray, labs and other studies as appropriate, timely and accurately.
    • Processes patient referrals to other provider offices.
    • Prepares patient EMR charts timely and accurately.
    • Gathers reports, labs, studies, or other data pertinent to upcoming patient appointments.
    • Faxes and copies necessary information to insurance companies, other provider offices and other facilities as necessary.
    • Records information accurately and timely in the EHR.
    • Takes phone messages.
    • Prepares charts for clinic.
    • Works in-basket messages and work queues.
    • Maximizes use of free time between preparing patients and other tasks to clean and stock rooms, copy documents, and filing.
    • Obtains provider or patient signatures on appropriate documents.
    • Assists with medical and office supply inventory and ordering.
    • Follows the identified dress code and safety protocols to ensure patient and employee safety.
    • Maintains and practices professional boundaries with all patient and co-worker interactions.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
