  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The Eisenhower Out-Patient Services Physician Liaison position is responsible for building customer relationships and improving customer satisfaction in areas which directly affect the hospital’s ability to attract physicians and to develop and implement sales and marketing strategies to meet annual sales and revenue goals. The Physician Liaison is responsible for directly contacting area physicians in their offices and for communicating with other service areas which are capable of influencing utilization such as physicians’ office personnel.

    • Education
      • Preferred: B.S. Degree in Marketing/Business/Nursing or Science
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Valid Drivers license and exceptional DMV driving record
    • Experience
      • Required: 1 year Medical/Sales background with an understanding of Medical Terminology.
      • Preferred: 2-3 years Medical Sales OR experience in medical contract negotiations OR medical statistical analysis.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Conducts physician visits within the primary service area to solicit larger share of inpatient/outpatient admissions to hospital.
      • Cultivates long term and productive relationships with physicians, office staff and EMC employees.
      • Meets identified sales goals and implementation of strategies.
      • Presents to each targeted physician, on initiative list, no less than once per month based on project needs as identified by the COO.
      • Identifies and follows up on client needs on a timely basis; initiates follow up within 1 week.
      • Maintains an accurate expense log and updates monthly for cash reimbursement. Manages costs and expenses to maximize ROI.
      • Utilizes appropriate application (such as Salesforce) to record log of activity, follow up, etc.
    • Monitors and develops existing referral networks; establishes new ones.
    • Identifies practice enhancement and other support service needs and makes recommendations for follow up. Monitors follow up by others to assure timely response.
    • Works with all Inpatient and Outpatient Departmental Directors and Managers, to implement and create consistent branded marketing strategies and take advantage of opportunities for increasing revenue. 
    • Prepares and distributes quality territory reports.
      • Provides accurate and complete statistical analysis on target physicians and market, in conjunction with Finance Department.
      • Provides to the Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations, a monthly summary report of the key initiatives and other areas of concern and opportunity.
      • Shares insight for problem resolutions between EMC and physicians in a timely basis. Provides thorough information for appropriate follow through.
    • Provides and identifies customer needs and potential resolutions, and territory intelligence. Observes trends and analyzes potential strategies and target adjustments to achieve volume growth and greater market penetration to Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations.
    • Assists with the new physician orientation process attending the Physician Orientation and calling on new specialty targeted physicians post Physician Orientation to discuss Out Patient services.
    • Supports the annual business planning process and goal attainment.
      • In conjunction with Finance Department, identifies/analyzes territory physician utilization data and creates strategic plan of action summaries that are accurate, concise, understandable, and contain relevant information.
      • Highlights deviations from goal attainment on a monthly basis and recommends strategies to meet set objectives.
      • Shows initiative in scanning the strategic environment to identify opportunities and threats and reports events and recommendations promptly.
      • Adheres to deadlines and assists in developing creative and compelling program ideas and proposals.
      • Ensures efficiency, productivity and sufficient financial resources, including adequate reserves, to meet all current and projected sales/marketing requirements.
    • Reports competitor activities or norm deviations immediately.
    • Completes power point presentations and data analysis pictorials.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
    • Serves as a resource to Outpatient and Inpatient Directors and the Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations. Promotes all sales initiatives, as identified by the COO.
      • Provides accurate physician utilization information to the Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations. Verifies data regarding opportunities and strategies for improvement in patient services, service flow and communicates the resulting improvements to physicians. Ensures that physicians and patients are consistently provided with high quality patient care and/or other support services that are valued by patients, physicians and each other.
      • Assists departments in distributing marketing information/departmental materials to physician targets in a timely fashion.
      • Maintains contact with key departments to assure accuracy of information on products and services and market trends. Collaborates with Departments and Vice President, Marketing and Public Relations to produce and promote physician marketing materials and initiatives as identified by the COO.
