  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The Process Improvement Manager-Sr works with Process Improvement leadership and the organizational management team to develop, set the pace, and implement business transformational and continuous improvement strategy with sensitivity towards the organizational structure, mission and values, culture, people and processes. Assists to outline the direction and deployment of the Lean framework to ensure consistent and rigorous application across the health system in line with best practice. Assist with the successful management and implementation of health system improvement projects/initiatives across the business by developing an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible team and building working relationships ensuring that patient safety is maintained. Leads small teams in the use of Lean methodologies, tools and other techniques to optimize processes, eliminate waste, improve quality and reduce costs. Independently works as an internal consultant, mentor, and team leader to develop people to solve problems, promote Lean thinking and foster a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: BS Degree in Health Care Field, Business or Health Care Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field
      • Preferred: MS Degree in Health Care Field, Business or Health Care Administration, Industrial Engineering or related field
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Certified Six Sigma Black Belt
    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum 5-7 years project management or process improvement experience in health care, or experience working as a consultant for process improvement projects
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
    • In collaboration with the process improvement team and in consultation with Executive Leadership, contributes to the creation and implementation of best practice Lean vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance
    • Contributes to new health system initiatives and projects, review and communicate the impact on Lean activities
    • Provides project management, analytical and research skills
    • Reports on progress of projects, understanding the risks, dependencies, budgets, resourcing, issues, critical milestones and forthcoming outcomes, and actions necessary to ensure success
    • Reports on achievement of targets and identifies any actions required
    • Coach and facilitate teams in monthly 5-Day Lean Kaizen events and projects using A3 Thinking methodology for problem-solving. Leads by example in use of Lean concepts, tools & techniques to drive continuous improvement and achieve long-term sustainment and promote an organizational cultural transformation
    • Coaches process owners on A3, Kaizen (Lean) events, daily management system (DMS), implementation of completion plans, and sustainment of Lean events
    • Proficient in collecting, analyzing, interpreting data and capable of translating analytic findings to a non-analytic audience
    • Identifies relevant process and financial measures from which to assess process improvement outcomes
    • Researches current best process improvement practice(s) to be utilized in process improvement projects and Kaizen (Lean) events
    • Presents information, such as data driven analysis and reports, methods, and other results in a logical and understandable format to a wide variety of audiences
    • Moves multiple high priority projects forward simultaneously. Demonstrate ownership and accountability of projects/performance. Anticipate potential problems, issues and needs and proactively address or elevate to Director of Process improvement
    • Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviors expected of them
    • Develops, implements, and manages key performance indicators (KPIs) for each area of responsibility
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure optimal performance
    • Able to positively motivate others
    • Performs other duties as assigned
