  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The Process Improvement Project Manager is responsible for leading moderately complex projects designed to improve performance for various operating units within the medical center, clinics, and ambulatory care environment. The Process Improvement Project Manager coordinates performance improvement events/projects by leading small teams in the use of Lean methodologies, tools and other techniques to optimize processes, eliminate waste, improve quality and reduce costs. Independently works as an internal consultant, mentor, and team leader to develop people to solve problems, promote Lean thinking and foster a continuous improvement culture throughout the organization. The Process Improvement/Lean facilitator works autonomously to identify, collect, analyze, and summarize data that relates to process improvement projects. Improves process improvement results by coaching leaders and holding performance improvement process owners/managers accountable to Lean processes and sustainment

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or health care administration, industrial engineering, or related field
      • Preferred: Master’s degree in business or health care administration, industrial engineering, or related field.
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification (or completion of a Project Management Course with at least 20 hours of class room instruction, and a grade of B or higher)
      • Preferred: Lean Practitioner, or Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification

    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum 5 years of project management or process improvement experience, or experience leading consulting engagements
      • Preferred: 2+ years of experience leading projects in a healthcare setting.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Works with a variety of departmental leaders, and process owners to complete project charters.
    • Facilitates small groups in monthly 5-Day Lean Kaizen events and projects using A3 Thinking methodology for problem-solving. Leads by example in using Lean concepts, tools & techniques to drive continuous improvement and achieve long-term sustainment and promote an organizational cultural transformation.
    • Coaches process owners on A3, Kaizen (Lean) events, daily management system (DMS), implementation of completion plans, and sustainment of Lean events.
    • Documents process flows and facilitates completion of waste assessment activities (value stream maps, flow factor analysis, waste walk, etc.).
    • Facilitates completion of data plans and collection and analysis of appropriate process performance data.
    • Takes necessary corrective action to keep performance outcomes on track. Understands and consistently meets sponsor expectations within the scope of project role by responding promptly to sponsor inquiries and providing timely status reports.
    • Move multiple high priority projects forward simultaneously. Demonstrate ownership and accountability of projects/performance. Anticipate potential problems, issues, needs and proactively address or elevate to Director of Process Improvement.
    • Proficient in collecting, analyzing, interpreting data and capable of translating analytic findings to a non-analytic audience.
    • Identifies relevant process and financial measures from which to assess process improvement outcomes.
    • Researches current best process improvement practice(s) to be utilized in process improvement projects and Kaizen (Lean) events.
    • Presents information, such as data-driven analysis and reports, methods, and other results in a logical and understandable format to a wide variety of audiences.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
