  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The lead tech will have operating knowledge of radiology equipment and be proficient in performing a variety of radiology imaging utilizing all aspects of radiology equipment in the EDOC locations and other assigned locations including physician clinic, outpatient surgery, and interventional pain management. Responsible for overseeing staff and assignment schedule all EDOC locations. Adjusting needs based on census, vacation coverage, call-off coverage, lunch and break periods. Responsible for coordinating day to day operations for all EDOC areas in collaboration with nursing leadership, physicians and assigned radiology technicians. Remaining in continual contact to monitor needs. Works closely with Director and/or supervisors, managers, or designees to determine appropriate staffing levels and training. Assures all appropriate supplies and equipment are in place and in working order. Assuring accuracy of physician orders, exam charges and performed exams. Assures all equipment is up to operational technical standards, department maintains survey, and compliance  readiness. Completes Job performance evaluation under the supervision of the Director or designee.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: High School Diploma
      • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited educational program in diagnostic Radiology Technology approved by the American Medical Association and the American College of Radiology
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: CRT, ARRT, FLUORO, American Heart Assocation BLS
    • Experience
      • Required: 1-2 years Hospital and/or out-patient experience
      • Preferred: Supervision/Organizing Skills
      • Preferred: Worked at least two years’ experience in orthopedics, surgery, and/or interventional radiology.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Follows ALARA guideline.
    • Uses Universal Precautions in all situations.
    • Utilizes proper radiation protection to protect patient and all from excessive radiation.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of patients age-specific need and provide the care needed.
    • Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepares patient for exam.
    • Documents any changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contacts Physician, RN or appropriate person when necessary.
    • Prioritizes stat procedures, organize patient flow and keeps communication with staff.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of O.R. sterile field precautions.
    • Maintains proficiency in the use of all Radiology equipment and Performs Radiographic procedures of highest technical quality.
    • Performs appropriate procedures as ordered. Assist Physician performing procedure.
    • Assists staff and Physician as necessary in performing procedures.
    • Communicates with appropriate service representatives to ensure adequate equipment maintenance.
    • Maintains overall cleanliness and safety of the radiology area.
    • Addresses all patient, physician, staff, and concerns/complaints within the area immediately. Refers any unresolved concerns/complaints to a Director or designeeimmediately with all facts and data.
    • Responsible for Quality control
    • Acts as preceptor for new employees to ensure that initial competencies are met.
    • Documents procedures in PACS.
    • Performs Receptionist and Radiology Assistant duties as needed.
    • Maintains cleanliness of all radiology equipment in; EDOC Radiology department, Out-patient Operating Room and Pain Management Interventional Department locations.
    • Notifies the Radiology Supervisor when demands for service exceed the ability to provide expected standards of service.
    • Mediates patient flow issues, add on procedures, overbooking of procedures and patients being bumped to ensure an even flow in the department.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
