Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.

Ensures that safe, high-quality patient care is provided in compliance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements and processional standards (AORN, The Joint Commission).

Develops proactive schedule review in collaboration with Surgery Scheduling

Motivates and manages assigned operating room nurses, techs, and operating room aides (ORAs).

Manages the operating room day-to-day and daily clinical operations, including practice standards, overall room activity, staffing, budgets, fiscal management, and quality improvement, in coordination with the Director.

Organizes and controls the daily activities of the operating rooms to ensure effective and efficient management of the surgery schedule and patient flow in collaboration with Pre and Post-operative services.

Makes room assignments in collaboration with colleagues as indicated.

Develops and implements action plans to improve staff development.

Plans and monitors service area goals.

Hires, evaluates, and counsels service group personnel in coordination with the Director.

Provides direct patient care as needed. Provides break and lunch relief and backup for OR staff as needed

Identifies and coordinates the needs of service-user physicians through formal and informal meetings.

Collaborates with team members to ensure all necessary equipment and supplies are available for their cases.

Oversees operating room schedule time compliance, and controls the turnover time process through oversight, management, and use of case time and case turnover reports.

Rounds in all assigned ORs and communicate delays and anticipated schedule changes to appropriate perioperative personnel and medical staff.

Investigates and resolves patient/family member concerns.

Oversees new staff orientation in collaboration with the perioperative educator.

Assists with managing and controlling department expenditures within established budgets.

Assures that preference cards are developed and maintained (DH SDS only).

Participates in hospital safety programs.

Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures.
-
Develops, implements, and maintain surgeon satisfaction programs.

Promotes patient and patient family satisfaction.
