  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The Chest Pain – STEMI Coordinator is a Registered Nurse who is responsible for the development, planning, evaluation, and management of the Chest Pain – STEMI Program. The Primary goal of this individual is to maintain and enhance the quality of care delivered to Chest Pain & STEMI patients, with particular focus on the accreditation process and oversight.

    • Education
      • Required: BSN or MSN
      • Preferred: MSN
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Current California RN licensure, American Heart Association BLS
    • Experience
      • Required: 5 years clinical experience, preferably in ED and/or cardiac services
      • Preferred: Prior experience as Chest Pain – STEMI coordinator
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
    • Aligns with Code of Conduct and compliance expectations; takes action to resolve compliance issues including reporting of suspected violations
    • Monitors chest pain – ACS/STEMI performance data
    • Coordination and effectiveness of the multi-disciplinary Performance Improvement for the chest pain – STEMI Program
    • Plans and establishes goals and objectives for the chest pain – STEMI patient, in conjunction with the Medical Director, Cardiac Leaders, and ED Leaders
    • Provides supervision and education to ensure the proper functioning of the chest pain – STEMI Program; serves as a resource to the health care team members involved in caring for all cardiac related patient population
    • Monitors Chest Pain accreditation requirements and ensures timely progress. Collaborates with involved departments to fulfill accreditation
    • Participates in Eisenhower’s chest pain – STEMI and critical care committees; works closely with the Medical Director to assist in establishing the standards of quality for chest pain -STEMI care
    • Demonstrates implementation skills in accordance with Eisenhower Health’s Standards of Care, policies, procedures, and Nurse Practice Act
    • Maintains current knowledge of cardiac-related best practices and the latest clinical practice guidelines, including legislation and regulations that impact chest pain – STEMI care
    • Coordinates and attends chest pain – STEMI education presentations for those caring for chest pain -STEMI patients internally – and for referring facilities as needs and opportunities are identified
    • Collaborates with REMSA to improve pre-hospital cardiac care. Identifies opportunities for paramedic/EMT education
    • Consistently documents in accordance with EMH policies and procedures
    • Assesses and analyzes outcome measures for continued EMH chest pain – STEMI certification
    • Demonstrates competency in chest pain – STEMI patient movement between the ED, Cath lab and ICU
    • Provides accurate and precise data reporting of chest pain, UA, NSTEMI and STEMI patient encounters to appropriate registries. Reporting to CARES
    • Identifies educational needs and provides comprehensive education pertaining to chest pain – STEMI intervention, prevention and rehabilitation for inpatients and community
    • Collaborates with nursing management, physicians and the Education Department to identify gaps in processes, develop and implement staff education related to chest pain – STEMI issues
    • Coordination of chest pain -STEMI patient care between the ED and other departments as needed
    • Coordinates research, collects and gathers data for reporting
    • Complies with departmental plan to meet budget goals
    • Demonstrates knowledge of Department of Nursing and Joint Commission required quality indicators, performance improvement and patient safety goals
