The Clinical Educator’s role is multi-faceted. Provides on unit and department specific education to nursing staff. Provides informal and formal education to nursing staff. Assists with JCAHO education to staff. Assists Clinical Directors and Clinical Managers in ensuring staff competency, ongoing skills assessment, and opportunities for growth. Assists with recruitment of staff.

Essential Responsibilities
-
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.

Provides classes that present current/appropriate information.

Demonstrates the ability to teach effectively and uses dynamic and unique approaches to engage their target audience.
-
Develops, monitors and evaluates indicators specific to nursing education and service lines.
-
Coordinates courses that promote staff development.
-
Coordinates or provides required classes for EMH nursing staff.
-
Participates on assigned committees/counsels.
-
Provides teaching of new procedures/information per request.
-
Demonstrates positive interpersonal communication skills.
-
Presents self as approachable and nonthreating to students and co-workers.
-
Utilizes feedback from physicians, directors and managers and nursing staff to develop education plans for areas assigned.

Teaches, based on hospital policies and procedures, scientific based practice and state JCAHO requirements.

Involved with recruitment and retention of nursing staff. Facilitates programs based on hospital needs in relation to recruitment.

Coordinates patient education.

Independently carries out responsibilities of job while supporting the needs of the total work unit as well as their own individual assignments.

Complies with departmental plan to meet budget goals.

Develops and implements a plan to maintain own clinical competency.

Demonstrates effective problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skills.

Assists with monitoring and education within the clinical specialty to ensure quality care and quality outcomes are met in a cost-effective manner.

Is self-motivated and assists with education of staff to facilitate change and improve processes.
- Coaches and educates staff regarding clinical questions.
