Job Objective:

Under the direction of the Magnet Program Director, provides oversight of Professional Governance and implementation of creative systems, processes, shared decision making and clinical practices that improve patient care delivery and foster excellent outcomes. Ensures the Magnet Program framework and essential domains are enculturated and hardwired into the organization through coordination, education and consultation with leadership. Supports all efforts to achieve and maintain Magnet Designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center Commission on Magnet Recognition

Education:

Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s in NursinggRequired: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s in Nursingg Licensure/Certification: Required: California RN license; ANCC Approved Nursing Certification such as Nurse Executive – Board Certified (NE-BC) or other relevant nursing certification or will obtain within 12 months of hire Experience: Required: Five (5) years of clinical experience as a registered nurse; three (3) years of quality assurance/performance improvement experience
Preferred:

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Provides oversight for all Professional Governance activities:
  • Fosters innovation and excellence in nursing
  • Coordinates and facilitates Professional Governance Councils: Secures meeting sites and catering provisions, facilitates monthly Coordinating Council meetings for agenda planning for all councils, Records, transcribes, distributes and posts to IkeRN all council meeting agendas, minutes, handouts and sign in sheets in a timely manner
  • Actively participates in Professional Governance and encourages the development and participation of front-line staff
  • Partners with nurse leaders to ensure focus on exemplary professional practice, quality, safety and patient care outcomes
  • Partners with Nurse Leaders and Unit-Based Councils to establish unit specific goals for improvement with nonperforming indicators
  • Partners with Nursing Professional Development to focus on improving quality of care issues requiring remediation
  • Fosters a culture of excellence and assimilates professional practice model into the Magnet portfolio.
  • Drives process improvement projects and ensures care-delivery system is in alignment with Magnet standards.
  • Supports performance improvement for process and systems issues
  • Identifies problem and opportunity areas and develops solutions.
  • Facilitates project planning and goal setting processes
  • Organizes and manages projects utilizing the ANCC Magnet Empirical Outcomes format and the Iowa Model to achieve sustained improvements
  • Implements tracking systems to measure the effectiveness interventions
  • Develops and maintains emphasis on evidence-based practice through modeling, mentoring, facilitating and educating to ensure key learnings are being communicated
  • Participates in the development of a culture of excellence by promoting best practices, fostering professional governance and seeking opportunities to serve as mentor.
  • Collaborates with Eisenhower Health’s Quality Department to ensure timely reporting of quality metrics for all inpatient units, outpatient/procedural areas and hospital-based clinics where nursing is practiced.
  • Supports the writing of the Magnet document to include identification of exemplars, supporting data for EO standards and all graphs.

Essential Skils:

  • Ability to take accurate and comprehensive committee minutes and draft committee correspondence
  • General working knowledge of regulatory standards including Joint Commission, Medicare (CMS) and Title 22 (state) requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple meetings and projects
  • Ability to set goals and work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision; ability to prioritize fluctuating workload and times to meet position demands
  • Knowledge of clinical outcomes data systems and resource management
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills; experience presenting data and information
  • Knowledge of performance improvement tools, and the ability to use them effectively
  • Computer skills, to include data entry, spreadsheets, graphics, information systems Ability to collect, analyze and disseminate data, including financial and statistical data
