  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Under the direction of the RN Manager, the Simulation Operations Specialist assists with the management and operation of patient simulator equipment supporting the many technical aspects of the clinical simulation environment. Provides technical support for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance and repair of computerized manikins (software and hardware), task trainers and related multimedia peripherals
    • Supports all efforts to achieve and maintain Society for Simulation in Healthcare Accreditation (SSH Accreditation) from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Certification Council

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: High School Diploma, GED or higher-level degree
      • Preferred: Associates Degree in healthcare related field
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: N/A

    • Experience
      • Required: Two (2) years of experience in information technology and one (1) year of experience in an acute care healthcare environment

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
    • Supports all efforts to achieve and maintain Society for Simulation in Healthcare Accreditation (SSH Accreditation) from the Society for Simulation in Healthcare Certification Council.
    • Provides technical support for computer based multimedia systems and their components, including operation of computerized simulators and manikins, digital cameras, video cameras, audio/video mixer, digital analog converter, monitors, LCD projectors, anesthesia machines and other equipment.
    • Collaborates with IT and vendor contacts to quickly resolve technical issues.
    • Develops technical proficiency with all aspects of the operation, maintenance, support, troubleshooting, repair and replacement needs for all equipment.
    • Assists Simulation Center Manager and Medical Director with education and training as required.
    • Assists with the use and operation of different simulator technologies; conducts routine equipment maintenance; repairs manikins' hard-and software issues.
    • Records all simulation exercises and makes the audio-visual files available to educators/faculty for educational use.
    • Participates in ongoing maintenance program for all simulation-based equipment, medical devices, capital equipment and the Clinical Simulation Center.
    • Provides communication and feedback to the Manager on facility, technology, equipment, operational and other needs identified for overall maintenance and program functioning.
    • Maintains records of warranty information, purchase and expiration dates, serial numbers, and maintenance records for Simulation Center equipment.
    • Monitors inventory supplies and notifies management when materials or supplies need to be ordered.
    • Collaborates with educators/faculty for equipment and set-up for experiential learning experiences.
    • Restores Clinical Simulation Center to pre-scenario conditions.
    • Maintains simulation center as a clean, safe, and operational facility and optimal learning environment and assists the manager in the development and implementation of rules and operating procedures.
    • Enters data for lab usage and recording simulated sessions with subsequent editing and transfer into an archival format for analysis.
    • Insures completed data forms are received and completed in full.
    • Supports the use of digital media and web stream creation for educational and professional distribution, distributes content and back up data, and provides advanced troubleshooting.
    • Participates in technical training as necessary.
    • Provides recommendations for improving operational systems and new equipment needs.
    • Complies with standards for measurable, realistic program outcomes with timelines and accountabilities.
    • Regularly reviews data and program outcomes to identify areas for improvement.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
