  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • To supervise the daily activities of the coding and charge capture staff, ensuring timely turnover of encounters by daily assignment of work queue activity and monitoring accuracy and productivity.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • High School graduate or equivalent
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: Professional Coding Certification
        • Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC)
      • Preferred: Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
    • Experience
      • Minimum of five to seven years of active, professional coding
      • Minimum of five years supervisory or management experience in a private practice or clinic
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Monitor EPIC work queues and provide Coder assignments.
    • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for areas of supervision.
    • Ensure that procedures are followed to promote accurate and timely submission of claims.
    • Monitor and complete Kronos for area supervised including all attendance records.
    • Respond to billing and customer service questions related to coding or billing.
    • Monitor productivity utilizing EPIC reporting and MGMA benchmarks.
    • Implement corrective measures as directed by management.
    • Participate in the selection and hiring process and ensure proper staffing based on volumes.
    • Complete or participate in all training and competency and annual reviews.
    • Perform Quality audits on billed accounts and provide feedback and reports to management.
    • Maintain schedules based on volumes.
    • Conduct daily huddles as indicated and monthly staff meetings to provide feedback and determine needs.
    • Maintains a personal coding accuracy rate of 95 %.
    • Completes all CEU requirements and ensures that staff do the same.
    • Performs all other related duties as requested.
