To supervise the daily activities of the coding and charge capture staff, ensuring timely turnover of encounters by daily assignment of work queue activity and monitoring accuracy and productivity.

Qualifications

Education

High School graduate or equivalent

Licensure/Certification

Required: Professional Coding Certification

Certified Outpatient Coder (COC), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or Certified Risk Adjustment Coder (CRC)

Preferred: Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Experience

Minimum of five to seven years of active, professional coding

Minimum of five years supervisory or management experience in a private practice or clinic

Essential Responsibilities
-
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
-
Monitor EPIC work queues and provide Coder assignments.
-
Develop and maintain standard operating procedures for areas of supervision.
-
Ensure that procedures are followed to promote accurate and timely submission of claims.
-
Monitor and complete Kronos for area supervised including all attendance records.
-
Respond to billing and customer service questions related to coding or billing.
-
Monitor productivity utilizing EPIC reporting and MGMA benchmarks.
-
Implement corrective measures as directed by management.
-
Participate in the selection and hiring process and ensure proper staffing based on volumes.
-
Complete or participate in all training and competency and annual reviews.
-
Perform Quality audits on billed accounts and provide feedback and reports to management.
-
Maintain schedules based on volumes.
-
Conduct daily huddles as indicated and monthly staff meetings to provide feedback and determine needs.
-
Maintains a personal coding accuracy rate of 95 %.

Completes all CEU requirements and ensures that staff do the same.
- Performs all other related duties as requested.
