Education:
Required: Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science or an additional four (4) years of applicable experience in lieu of bachelor’s degree
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Advanced certificates in Citrix, Firewall, SAN, Cyber security, Network+, Security+, Backup and Recovery, Cloud technologies, MCITP, MCTS, MCSA, CISSP or CCNA’ etc.; Epic Client System Administrator (ECSA) required if assigned to ECSA role
Experience:
Required: Eight (8) years of experience as a System Administrator or equivalent IT role
Preferred: Experience working within a regulated enterprise environment and with the creation of architecture, process, and procedural documentation; experience with compliance audits and risk assessments
Job Objective:
Strategically designs and implements information systems, data center and cloud architectures to support Eisenhower Medical Center (EMC) functions and ensures their high availability. Committed to the development of technology plans, assuring that technology solutions meet business requirements while aligning with long-term architectural goals; responsible for evaluating and advising on the technologies required to complete those technology solution plans. Leads technical decisions within EMC IT domains and guides project planning. Responsible for creating patient and business focused digital ecosystems that provide scalable, reliable, secure and intuitive system architectures of use by patients, employees and clinicians. Advises leaders on matters of technical strategy in their specified domain.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Leads, designs and implements short and long-term strategic goals for managing and maintaining systems and software; ensures all planned and in-place system architectures are aligned with EMC’s goals.
- Conducts independent research on new technologies in the field of systems development and creates formal recommendations for investing in such systems that will increase cost effectiveness and flexibility.
- Drives infrastructure development; independently develops and executes test plans to check technical performance of infrastructure and report findings; makes recommendations for improvement based on findings; develops technology and procedural strategy for standardizing systems.
- Analyzes and evaluates information technology systems operations and their effectiveness; recommends plans for improvement or automation when appropriate.
- Communicates regularly with internal applications and operational staff, as appropriate, in order to ensure the system integrity, security and availability.
- Reviews ticket management and project work queues daily; updates work orders, trouble tickets and project tasks on a weekly basis until tasks are complete.
- Tests and enables automation suggestions of System Admin I and II; provides guidance, for improvements in IT processes as possible to reduce delivery time of IT services (pc refresh, server provisioning, VM builds, server de-provisioning, etc.).
- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates information technology systems operations and their effectiveness; recommends plans for improvement or automation when appropriate.
- Creates comprehensive test plans to validate scripts, pushes and other data center changes for System Admin I and II.
- Supports the IT System Analysts and vendors during and post implementation of various IT systems, especially when the need for non-standard approaches may be required; uses technical judgement to evaluate and resolve complex systems issues when they occur.
- Evaluates and resolves complex technical issues while following industry standards and best practices in a timely manner.
- Creates aging reports for all operating systems, infrastructure and systems; collaborates with leadership to create a holistic technical debt dashboard and reduction plan.
- Creates architecture drawings of all new system implementations including upgrades; approves drawings from System Admin I and II.
- Leads various committees and meetings where issues involving security and systems are concerned.
- Communicates with IS staff members, vendors and users; facilitates communication between these groups to identify system needs, modifications, and/or issues; collaborates with these groups to reach resolution of issues, define necessary modifications and develop solutions.
- Provides expertise and architectural assistance to other IT personnel as needed.
- Reviews and ensures integrity of new and existing system designs; makes recommendations to improve them; maintains performance and reliability.
- Keeps assigned set of data center tools updated and tuned: VMWare, SAN, Firewall, Citrix, Backup, Epic, etc.
- Collaborates with manager for improvements to the System Admin and Apprenticeship on-boarding programs.
- Manages large size IT projects as assigned by manager or director.
- Trains new system administrators while modeling effective team and admin behavior for others
- Advises leadership of any issues that could relate to poor customer satisfaction, breaches in security and/or operational risks, and leads plans for remediation.
- Participates in an on-call rotation.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Skils:
- Knowledge of Cisco UCS and other rack-mount/blade server hardware
- Ability to set goals and work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision
- Technical writing skill needed for the creation of data center documentation, knowledge base articles and other procedures
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
- Extensive knowledge with the following services, applications and concepts, including but not limited to: Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, Certificate Services, LANDesk, PXE, Citrix, VMware vSphere, P2V, P2P, Symantec Endpoint, hardware independent imaging, sys-prep, PRTG, Active Administrator, networking, scripting (bash, vb-script, etc.), Windows DSC, IT security best practices and EPIC server/application

- Ability to quickly evaluate and resolve complex issues while following industry standards and best practices
- Extensive knowledge in hardware and software management systems (LANDesk) use building packages, pushing software, testing package pushes, and general IT asset management
- Strong log file analysis skills to facilitate troubleshooting which can include, but not limited to Windows Event logs, crash dump files, and application logs
- Ability to coach other technical staff on advanced topics
- Extensive knowledge managing an Enterprise level Exchange environment

- Proficient in managing a SAN fabric as well as storage management; ability to carve and present LUNs, review performance, expand as needed, all while following industry standards and best practices; storage solutions including, but not limited, to: VNX, XtremIO, and Isilon
- Knowledge of enterprise backup systems (CommVault preferred), de-duplication, and Disaster Recovery solutions
