Job Objective:
Supports the anesthesiologists for routine and complex surgical cases including general, regional and monitored anesthesia care patients. Assists with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. On-call is a requirement of this position and the post holder will be expected to provide anesthesia technician support at all locations where anesthesia is administered.

Licensure/Certification:
Required: American Heart Association BLS
Preferred: Anesthesia Technician Certification
Experience:
Required: Two (2) years of experience in the operating room, sterile processing, a certified/licensed direct patient care role or certification for anesthesia technicians through the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) in lieu of experience, if hired after January 1, 2023
Preferred: Experience in healthcare procedural department
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Assists the anesthesiologists for routine and complex cases.
- Assists in lifting and/or transferring patients from stretcher/bed to OR table and vice vera.
- Assists with the application of non-invasive monitoring equipment, i.e blood pressure cuff, EKG, pulse oximeter.
- Sets up IV and pressure lines for indwelling catheters: arterial, central venous, pulmonary artery, ICP monitor.
- Assists with invasive and non-invasive monitoring. Set up and maintenance of a sterile field for invasive monitoring procedures.
- Maintains equipment maintenance and servicing such as cleaning and sterilizing, assembling, calibrating and testing, troubleshooting.
- Operates a variety of mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic equipment used to monitor the patient undergoing anesthesia.
- Sets up all anesthesia equipment and instrumentation: blood pressure monitors, blood warmers, infusion pumps, intra-operative EEG equipment, invasive lines utilizing sterile techniques, SVO
- echocardiography, precordial stethoscope, ECG, doppler’s, capnograph, pulse oximeter.
- Provides assistance to other support staff while recognizing own practice limitations.
- Provides assistance with patient transport and positioning.
- Checks, cleans, and restocks assigned service area storage areas.
- Participates in hospital safet programs.
- Supports and enforces infection-control policies and procedures
- Maintains patient and medical staff confidentiality
