Job Objective:

Provides clinical nutrition services for assigned area(s). Responsible for coordinating and implementing nutrition care of clients and patients with clinical nutrition staff, medical, nursing, and ancillary care professionals.

Experience:


Preferred: California Children's Services (CCS) program Panel in Dietetics Experience: Preferred: Experience as a Registered Dietitian in a healthcare setting; experience with cardiovascular disease, pulmonary disease, weight management and plant based nutrition

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Assesses the nutritional status of pediatric, adolescent, adult and/or geriatric patients through documentation in the medical record. Uses parameters such as anthropometric measurements, visual assessment and interpretation of laboratory values.
  • Develops and revises a nutrition care plan based on information from the patient, medical record, family and health care team members.
  • Incorporates current evidence-based research and practice into educational materials, chart notes, protocols, policy and procedures.
  • Adheres to Morrison Manuel Clinical Nutrition Management, if applicable.
  • Performs nutrient intake analysis.
  • Adheres to facility confidentiality, HIPPA regulations, and patient rights policies.
  • Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state and JCAHO as evidenced by successful completion of surveys with no deficiencies.
  • Completes all required documentation, reports and logs in a timely, professional and through manner.
  • Communicates effectively with all team members, patients and families through conferences, individual consultation and committee participation. This includes telephone, written, and electronic communication.
  • Orients, mentors and trains staff and interns; trains and in-services Food Service Associates on various diets, if applicable.
  • Advises department on patient care and food service issues.
  • Plans regular and modified menus as requested.
  • Follows facility and department infection control policies and procedures.
  • Participates in facility-wide and department Performance Improvement Program and on Performance Improvement teams to improve processes and patient care; assists and contributes to patient satisfaction goals by providing quality service.
  • Acts as nutritional care expert for others on the inter-professional health care team.
  • Provides community education as requested within area of expertise including support of Community Heart Failure Clinic lecture series and educational programs for cardiac/pulmonary rehab participants, if applicable.
