Job Objective:

Oversees the point-of-care testing program, ensuring that all testing sites comply with all regulatory and accreditation standards.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree if hired after March 1, 2025

Licensure/Certification:

Required: California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) license
Preferred: American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) Certification or equivalent

Experience:

Required: Two (2) years of CLS experience

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Monitors POCT Quality Control for all hospital departments and the clinical division.
  • Monitors POCT Quality Improvement to include proficiency testing, policies/procedures, method comparison, and competency.
  • Recommends and implements changes to improved efficiency, quality, customer satisfaction, and overall effectiveness of POCT.
  • Establishes and maintains effective communication with all POCT users.
  • Utilizes Laboratory Information System as appropriate.
  • Answers telephone and responds to questions or directs call to appropriate individual.
  • Complies with hospital and Laboratory safety policies and procedures.
  • Complies with all State and federal regulations.
  • Maintains all POCT procedures for clinical division and nursing.
  • Conducts site inspections to all locations both on and off campus.
