Education:

Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree

Licensure/Certification:

Preferred: MA, EMT, LVN or healthcare license or certification

Experience:

Required: One (1) year of experience in healthcare setting, preferably in the emergency department
Preferred: Experience with supply ordering, purchasing and inventory control

Job Objective:

Responsible for equipment, technology and supply maintenance for the Emergency Department. Routinely monitors all equipment and technological devices to ensure functionality. Ensures that all equipment, supply areas, and specialty carts are clean, stocked, organized and are in good working condition at all times. Coordinates with vendors, SPD and other departments as needed to perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and maintain adequate par levels. Responsible for tracking equipment for loss prevention. Orders supplies that are routinely maintained by the Emergency department. Provides support to staff on troubleshooting with software related issues and collaborates with Information Systems department on department-specific projects.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Displays effective productivity and time management skills.
  • Ensures adequate storage and stocking of supplies in all appropriate areas; orders and maintains inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Performs facility search to locate misplaced equipment.
  • Performs physical assessment of department to ensure that standards of operation comply with OSHA and TJC requirements in collaboration with the Director.
  • Participates in and follows up with monthly department Environment of Care inspections. Participates in Performance Improvement and Quality Assessment activities and interdisciplinary teams as appropriate.
  • Assists the Director and Department Leadership Team with clinical evaluations of capitol equipment, minor equipment and supplies.
  • In collaboration with the Director, assists with maintaining service contract records.
  • Assists with identifying cost reduction strategies.
  • Orders lab/phlebotomy supplies. Maintains and rotates lab supplies and keeps storage area organized.
  • Orders and communicates supply needs to supervisor so that appropriately stocked work areas are maintained.
  • Maximizes free time to assist with cleaning and organizing workstations, cleaning rooms.
  • Assists with providing care team access and connectivity to Eisenhower Health’s systems and applications.
  • Develops working knowledge of Eisenhower Health’s EMR and related software and enhances own knowledge of the EMR and related software as software is upgraded or applied in new ways to clinic processes.
  • Shares knowledge and acts as a professional resource to colleagues and other members of the healthcare team
  • Follows the identified dress code and safety protocols to ensure patient and employee safety.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent customer service and relationship-building skills with providers, patients, co-workers and guests, adhering to all 5-Star Customer Service training expectations
  • Knowledge of computer system, including Electronic health record (EHR), email systems and system applications
  • Exercises a high degree of initiative and judgement; ability to identify and solve problems
  • Knowledge of medical supplies and equipment
