Job Objective:

Entry level per diem position that supports the Information Systems department. The Information Systems Apprentice will be assigned selected work experiences and is accountable, under the direction of the Information Systems Management for setting priorities, meeting deadlines, completing assigned tasks. Apprentice will rotate through assigned areas in the Information Systems Help Desk, Desktop, Operations and other selected technology areas as needed. The Information Systems Program has two phases: the Summer Schedule and School Year Schedule. Up to full-time work is available during summer schedule, but is not guaranteed. Apprentices will work part-time or as needed during the School Year Schedule, typically 4 hours/week. Apprentices will rotate team assignments between multiple areas of Information Systems during the term of the work experience.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Provides technical assistance to computer system end-users including all Eisenhower employees, EMA Providers, Affiliated Providers and their staff, EMC Volunteers, remote workers, Contractors, and more.
  • Provides Technical Support to EMC patients who need IT assistance with our MyChart patient portal.
  • Provides an excellent service desk experience to all customers
  • Provides IT Technical Support for all Eisenhower managed computers, office equipment, hardware, mobility devices, websites/software, and much more
  • Performs other written and oral status reporting to IS management and EMC customers on a regular basis as needed or as requested.
  • Effectively communicates with IS staff members, vendors, and customers. Facilitates cooperation between these groups to troubleshoot, identify and resolve system needs, modifications, and or issues. Works with these groups to reach resolution of issues and or define necessary modifications.
  • Advises IS Management of any issues that could relate to customer satisfaction. Attends all meetings as required.
  • Practices excellent time management skills as well as organizational and inter-personal skills to work with a variety of people and conditions.
  • Has a proactive attitude to helping other techs and completes duties as assigned.
  • Communicates changes to operations and analysts as needed.
  • Ensures that all other necessary documentation is properly completed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Skils:

  • Required Availability: Must be able to work a minimum of 30 hours per week during Summer Schedule of program period (June-August) then at least 4 hours per week during School Schedule of program period
  • Role may require driving  Must have valid driver's license and safe driving record  May drive company or personal vehicle to various locations to complete applicable job duties 
  • Student must possess basic computer and problem solving skills Basic technical knowledge for troubleshooting issues on computers, laptops, printers and other general end user computing equipment Basic understanding of networking principles Basic understanding of VOIP telecommunications equipment Basic knowledge of Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office preferred Good oral and written communication and customer service skills Demonstrated interpersonal skills with ability to create and maintain positive interpersonal relations with peers, users and vendors in the disposition of duties
