    • Assists Histology staff with routine daily tasks including: removing slides from instruments, filing blocks and slides, labeling slides and distributing cases.

    • Education



      • Required: High school graduate


      • Preferred: Minimum 1 year college science or equivalent as determined by Histology Supervisor


    • Licensure/Certification

    • Experience



      • Laboratory experience or equivalent as determined by Histology Supervisor


  • Essential Responsibilities



    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.


    • Utilizes Pathology Laboratory Information System as appropriate


    • Removes slide racks from coverslipper, organizes slides in folders, performs materials match, scans barcoded slides in pathology computer system, compiles paperwork and distributes folders to respective locations


    • Assembles and distributes all required paperwork, assuring appropriate reporting


    • Maintains reagents on various instruments, which includes changing and refilling solutions


    • Disinfects and maintains work areas and instrumentation as needed


    • Complies with hospital and Laboratory safety policies and procedures


    • Complies with all State and federal regulations


    • Answers telephone and responds to questions or directs calls to appropriate individuals


    • Assists in ordering, maintaining, and restocking of supplies


    • Labels and Organizes block and slide file cabinets


    • Files surgical blocks and slides


    • Discards surgical blocks and slides after required archival period


    • Enters and processes specimen orders in accordance with established procedures

    • Performs other duties as necessary, which may include surgical specimen entry
