Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
Assists Histology staff with routine daily tasks including: removing slides from instruments, filing blocks and slides, labeling slides and distributing cases.

Blood Borne Pathogens
Required: High school graduate
Preferred: Minimum 1 year college science or equivalent as determined by Histology Supervisor
Laboratory experience or equivalent as determined by Histology Supervisor
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
Utilizes Pathology Laboratory Information System as appropriate
Removes slide racks from coverslipper, organizes slides in folders, performs materials match, scans barcoded slides in pathology computer system, compiles paperwork and distributes folders to respective locations
Assembles and distributes all required paperwork, assuring appropriate reporting
Maintains reagents on various instruments, which includes changing and refilling solutions
Disinfects and maintains work areas and instrumentation as needed
Complies with hospital and Laboratory safety policies and procedures
Complies with all State and federal regulations
Answers telephone and responds to questions or directs calls to appropriate individuals
Assists in ordering, maintaining, and restocking of supplies
Labels and Organizes block and slide file cabinets
Files surgical blocks and slides
Discards surgical blocks and slides after required archival period
Enters and processes specimen orders in accordance with established procedures
