Education:

Preferred: High school diploma or GED

Licensure/Certification:

Required: California Driver License with clean driving record

Experience:

Required: Three (3) years of experience in commercial landscape maintenance, including one (1) year of experience in a supervisory or foreman role
Preferred: Experience maintaining large commercial, healthcare, educational, or institutional campuses; experience utilizing bilingual Spanish/English skills

Job Objective:

Responsible for overseeing the daily landscape maintenance operations of a hospital campus, ensuring that all grounds are safe, attractive and maintained to the highest standards. Supervises landscape crew members, assists in coordinating daily work schedules and performs hands-on maintenance while ensuring compliance with hospital safety regulations and environmental standards.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  •  Supervises and leads landscape maintenance crews in the care of lawns, trees, shrubs, flower beds, irrigation systems and hardscape areas throughout the hospital campus.
  • Plans, assigns and monitors daily work activities to ensure timely completion and quality standards.
  • Performs and oversees mowing, edging, pruning, fertilizing, planting, weed control and seasonal landscape improvements.
  • Inspects grounds regularly to identify maintenance needs and safety concerns.
  • Maintains and troubleshoots irrigation systems to ensure proper water management and conservation.
  • Operates and maintains landscape equipment, tools and vehicles safely and efficiently.
  • Trains crew members in proper horticultural practices, equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with OSHA regulations, infection prevention protocols and hospital policies.
  • Coordinates with hospital facilities management and other departments to minimize disruption to patients, visitors and staff.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies and recommends materials and equipment needed for operations.
  • Assists with emergency response activities, storm cleanup and special campus projects as required.
  • Completes work orders, inspection reports and other documentation accurately and promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to safely operate commercial landscaping equipment and power tools
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively, optimize team productivity and ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback and guidance
  • Ability to operate commercial landscape equipment and light vehicles
  • Knowledge of irrigation systems, plant identification, turf management and integrated pest management practices
  • Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations in a calm and professional manner
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb and perform repetitive physical tasks throughout the workday
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, wind and rain
  • Ability to effectively communicate in a positive and professional manner
  • Ability to identify common landscape pests, diseases and environmental issues
  • Knowledge of plant care, pruning, fertilization and seasonal landscape maintenance
