Job Objective:
Responsible for transporting patients in all departments of the hospital, assisting with patient care and procedures. Coordinates and monitors the daily activities of the Patient Transporters. Responsible for training new employees and maintenance of staff skills.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
- Demonstrates knowledge of hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
- Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
- Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
- Provides safe patient environment at all times; stays with patient, who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves.
- Correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
- Transports patients in a safe, comfortable manner to and from department/floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport.
- Assists Technologists/Nursing staff with patient procedures as appropriate.
- Assists Nursing staff/Technologists with moving patients when necessary.
- Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
- Responds and assists to Code Blue.
- Notifies RN prior to transport and upon return.
- Obtains copy of E.D. orders for Tech’s prior to exam as assigned.
- Notifies Nurse if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during E.D. transport.
- Operates patient support equipment, such as: oxygen tanks(E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
- Maintains sanitizing gurneys and keeping them stocked.
- Assists with Lab specimens when needed; routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
- Escorts visitors, patient’s families to waiting areas, cafeteria and other areas as assigned.
