Required: Bachelor's Degree and Juris Doctor Degree
Licensure/Certification:
Required: Must be a member of the State Bar of California in good standing or eligible to qualify as registered in-house counsel in State of California and will become a member of the State Bar of California in good standing within eighteen (18) months of hire
Experience:
Required: Three (3) years of experience as an attorney in a law firm and/or in-house environment
Job Objective:
Supports the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer, and Associate General Counsel by providing legal advice and contract support related to the operations of the health system. Serves as a generalist attorney with a primary focus on healthcare contracting. Manages a high volume of hospital agreements and provides timely, practical legal guidance to other attorneys in the department and business partners across the organization. Requires excellent time management, strong communication skills, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with operational leaders and external partners.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Reviews, drafts, revises, and negotiates a variety of hospital agreements, including but not limited to Vendor agreements, Service agreements, Equipment purchase and lease agreements, Confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, Business associate agreements, Affiliation and academic agreements, Independent contractor agreements, Technology and software agreements.
- Manages assigned contract workflow to ensure timely review and execution.
- Identifies legal risks with contracts and provides practical recommendations to mitigate risk.
- Supports maintenance and improvement of contract templates and standard terms.
- Assists in managing contract lifecycle processes and maintaining contract records.
- Performs legal research and analysis on healthcare regulatory, operational, and contractual matters.
- Prepares written summaries, memoranda, and correspondence related to legal issues.
- Assists with legal matters assigned by General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, Chief Risk Officer, and Associate General Counsel.
- Maintains effective communication with business partners, vendors (as needed), and legal team members.
- Demonstrates strong customer service orientation in interactions with internal clients.
Essential Skils:
