Job Objective:
Provides direct patient care and is responsible for providing individual, group, couples and/or family psychotherapy at the Eisenhower Behavior Health Outpatient Clinic. Maintains caseload by monitoring and providing comprehensive care in accordance with accepted standards of practice delineated by the Association of Marriage and Family Therapy Regulatory Board and established EMC policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Completes comprehensive patient evaluations for mental health, substance abuse, co-occurring disorders, domestic violence and/or medical needs across the lifespan.
- Conducts psychosocial assessment of patients upon initial evaluation, annually, and/or as clinically indicated to evaluate social, emotional, and physical needs by applying psychotherapy theories and techniques.
- Identifies and addresses barriers to care.
- Engages in active, ongoing assessment with updates in treatment planning to promote patients’ progress in therapy.
- Manages caseload of varying clinical acuity.
- Documentation demonstrates intervention that supports patients’ treatment in compliance with record-keeping requirements and for billable services in direct patient care.
- Coordinates and collaborates with clinical, health education, community health and other staff members in the provision of services to patients.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- De-escalation skills or aptitude in managing acute crises
- Ability to assess and complete clinical evaluations of patients with ongoing, evidence-based updates in treatment plans using well-developed psychosocial assessment and intervention skills
- Ability to utilize therapeutic communication skills including offering support, encouragement, positive reinforcement, clarification, reality orientation, de-escalation, redirection, teaching and problem solving
- Understanding of cultural humility with the ability to listen, interact, and communicate with a wide variety of individuals
- Written and verbal communication skills
- Knowledge and ability to clearly document on patient diagnosis and progress in therapy to support required components of record-keeping and billing
- Knowledge of regulations, standards and legislation (local, state and federal) related to the continuum of care and patient transitions
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team
- Understanding and experience with the 5150 Designation process
- Assessment and diagnostic skills with the ability to treat/adapt treatment for emotional and behavioral problems across the lifespan
