  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • The position, under directive of the Hospitalist Medical Director, is responsible for ensuring accurate documentation of patient care activity, maintaining a quality standard of care, prioritizing activities and assisting with the workload with other employees of the Department. Collects data and provides patient care to patients scheduled for surgery at EMC, DHOCC, and/or EDOSC. Assists physicians or NP with examinations and diagnostic testing. Completes special projects or other duties as assigned.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • None
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: California LVN license; American Heart Association BLS.
    • Experience
      • Required: Recent experience in a clinic setting
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance Policies, and takes action to resolve complaints.
    • Answers telephone in a polite efficient manner; takes clear and accurate messages.
    • Maximizes free time between employee tasks and other duties to maintain a clean and organized work area.
    • Assists EMC physician and NP, so that appropriate preparation, examination, documentation, and diagnostic testing occur without error and without delay.
    • Collects data and reports finding to physician and/or NP.
    • Collects and documents health history (including medication list, allergies, and vaccines) for pre surgical patients.
    • Collects and prepares results of lab, radiology, and other ancillary testing available prior to patient visit.
    • Draws lab work as ordered and completes EKGs as ordered.
    • Demonstrates implementation skills in accordance with EMC Policy, standards of care and Nurse Practice Act.
    • Performs basic nursing skills.
    • Orders and communicates supply needs to supervisor so that appropriately stocked work areas are maintained.
    • Provides timely and appropriate instructions to patients.
    • Performs patient callbacks with information about test results or for quality customer service.
    • Language, appearance and behavior reflect the EMC Behavioral Standards.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
