  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • A Medical Assistant/Certified Phlebotomy Technician (MA/CPT) provides care to a specific group of patients under the supervision of an RN/NP/PA/MD. The MA/CPT is responsible for ensuring the accurate data collection, clinical care and documentation of patient care activity, maintaining a quality standard of care, anticipating and responding to the varying daily workload and prioritizing clinic activities. An MA/CPT performs medical functions and maintains positive interpersonal relations with peers, patients, patients families and providers.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: MA Course Completion from recognized educational institution
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: California State Phlebotomy License, American Heart Association BLS
      • Preferred: Medical Assistant Certificate
    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum one year experience as a CPT (waived for employees hired prior to August 20, 2018) and six months experience in a medical office setting.
      • Preferred: 2-years experience in a physician office, emergency department or urgent care setting.
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Performs patient care within standard of practice.
    • Evaluates effectiveness of patient care interventions and patients progress toward expected outcomes every shift.
    • Assists providers so that appropriate preparation, examination and diagnostic testing occur without error and without delay.
    • Completes accurate documentation of all patient care activity.
    • Works under direction of Charge Nurse and completes assignments as directed.
    • Manages patient assignment within assigned shift.
    • Provides timely and appropriate discharge instructions to patients.
    • Demonstrates cost effectiveness by using judgement when opening and using supplies.
    • Assists with cleaning and organizing work station, cleaning and supplying exam rooms.
    • Maintains diagnostic test results and reports in a timely manner to Charge Nurse/Providers.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
