    • Education
      • Required: Completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: California Nurse Practitioner license; California Nurse Practitioner Furnisher number; DEA number; and American Heart Association BLS and ACLS.
    • Experience
      • Preferred: Experience in a medical office practice, urgent care, rehab facility, or hospital program

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Communicates with hospital staff, hospital personnel and hospital practitioners to maintain continuity of patient care, improve performance and resolve issues.
    • Works in collaboration with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to provide and direct patient care and support.
    • Is a good steward of EMC/Hospitalist’s resources by cost effective use of time and supplies.
    • Demonstrates commitment to EMC values through customer/patient focus in a manner that reflects EMC’s Magnet status and meets the standards of the Magnet program.
    • Conducts comprehensive history and physical exams.
    • Orders and interprets laboratory and test results and makes adjustments as needed based on results and communicates findings to attending physician as needed.
    • Counsels patients on health care options.
    • Daily duties inclusive but not limited to admits, rounding, discharges, documenting and billing.
    • Creates H&P, progress notes, and consult notes as needed.
    • Assists physicians with daily routine tasks including medication authorizations and completion of forms.
    • Monitors department specific standards of care/practice.
    • Develops plan of care based on assessment.
    • Evaluates effectiveness of medical interventions.
    • Demonstrates ability to change intervention strategies when expected outcomes not met.
    • Documents in accordance with EMC policies and procedures.
    • Assist Quality Nurse with inquiries pertaining to diagnostics and medications.
    • Orders and adjusts medical treatments and/or medications as needed.
    • Demonstrates competency in the operation of equipment specific to clinical area.
    • Provides accurate and precise reporting of patient condition and changes in a timely manner to physicians.
    • Serves as consultant or resource person in area of expertise for patients/families, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
    • Provides psychosocial support to patients and family members.
    • Participates in continuous quality improvement and quality assurance activities and various clinical committees, as appropriate.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
