Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations.
  • Practices hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
  • Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
  • Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
  • Provides safe patient environment at all times; stays with patients who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves, correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
  • Transports patients in a safe / comfortable manner to and from Department / Floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport (SBAR).
  • Assists Technologists/Nursing staff with patient procedures as assigned.
  • Assists Nursing staff/Technologists with moving patients when necessary.
  • Notifies patient's RN prior to transport and upon return.
  • Notifies Nurse if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during ED transport.
  • Operates patient support equipment, such as: oxygen tanks (E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
  • Maintains sanitizing gurneys and keeping them stocked.
  • Helps with Lab specimens when needed; routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
  • Escorts visitors, patient’s families to waiting areas, cafeteria, etc..
  • Performs dispatch duties as needed.

  • Provides patient observation at the discretion of a nurse and communicates observations of patient condition changes to nurse.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Essential Skils:

  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
  • Knowledge of good body mechanics moving, lifting and transporting patients
  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities and unexpected situations
