  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Position is responsible for transporting patients in all departments of the hospital, assisting with patient care and procedures.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • High School Diploma or GED required. 
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Heart Association BLS
    • Experience
      • Preferred: Some hospital and / or patient care experience. Basic computer skills
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and reports suspected violations
    • Demonstrates knowledge of hospital approved patient identifications procedures.
    • Communicates pertinent information and unfinished tasks to co-workers prior to breaks, lunches and end of shift to ensure continuity of workflow.
    • Provides safe and efficient transfer of patients.
    • Provides safe patient environment at all times:
      • Stays with patient, who may be in danger of falling and hurting themselves
      • Correctly identifies patient by use of armband.
    • Transports patients in a safe / comfortable manner to and from Department / Floors when necessary, reporting any changes that may occur during transport. (SBAR)
    • Assists Technologists/Nursing staff with patient procedures as assigned.
    • Assists Nursing staff/Technologists with moving patients when necessary.
    • Transports deceased patients to the morgue.
    • Responds and assists to Code Blue.
    • Notifies patients RN prior to transport and upon return.
    • Obtains copy of E.D. orders for Tech’s prior to exam when applicable.
    • Notifies Nurse if patient needs taken off or put on monitor during E.D. transport
    • Operates patient support equipment, such as: oxygen tanks(E tanks), Hovermats, and ergo-slide.
    • Maintains sanitizing gurneys and keeping them stocked.
    • Helps with Lab specimens when needed. Routinely transports specimens from surgery to Lab.
    • Escorts visitors, patient’s families to waiting areas, cafeteria, and etc.
    • Performs dispatch duties as needed.
    • Stocks O2 / E tanks throughout the hospital.
    • Demonstrates good body mechanics moving, lifting and transporting patients.
    • Provides patient observation at the discretion of a nurse and communicates observations of patient condition changes to nurse.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
