Job Objective:

Under the direct supervision of a physical, occupational or speech therapist, assists with support activities in the provision of patient care. Responsible for support activities including patient transportation, equipment maintenance, supplies, inventory, and office assistance.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Heart Association BLS

Experience:

Preferred: Aide or volunteer experience in rehabilitation service

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Provides effective therapy treatment support activities as delegated by the therapist and in compliance with hospital licensing and accreditation standards and in compliance with the Physical/Occupational/Speech Therapy Practice Acts.
  • Maintains equipment and appearance of the treatment areas.
  • Performs office tasks and maintains supply inventory as assigned.
  • Provides thorough, timely, legible, and consistent patient care documentation as appropriate.
  • Utilizes all resources to assist with patient flow as applicable, including but not limited to printing forms, scheduling patients, etc..
  • Participates in special department programs as assigned.
  • Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and coordination to maximize patient outcomes.
  • Responds positively, appropriately, and in a timely fashion to all communications including patients, co-workers, supervisors, other departments, physicians, etc..

  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to administer all department modalities, programs, and protocols appropriate to the age of the patients served
