Job Objective:

Analyzes and administers key compensation, financial, budgeting, and analytical functions that align with the medical group’s objectives for recruiting, retention and employee engagement.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field
Preferred: Master’s degree in Health Care Administration, Finance, Accounting or related field  

Licensure/Certification:

N/A

Experience:

Required: Three (3) years of compensation, finance or business analytics experience
Preferred: Experience in physician compensation, healthcare finance, and budgeting

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Compiles, creates and analyzes information pertaining to physician compensation including internal, equity, and market comparisons, and fair market value determinations. 
  • Conducts an annual market analysis of all physician compensation within the medical group, and makes recommendations with regard to market adjustments, equity adjustments, FMV compliance, etc.; works with medical group leadership, including the medical group’s compensation committee, to review and implement required changes.  
  • Makes recommendations to Eisenhower Medical Associates (EMA) leadership on all physician compensation related issues.
  • Works closely with medical group consultants in constructing appropriate compensation models based on compensation survey data.
  • Responds on behalf of the medical group to annual Physician Compensation Surveys conducted by MGMA and other organizations.
  • Assists EMA leadership in creating and revising physician job descriptions; acts as subject matter expert in maintaining accurate, consistent job descriptions across all specialties.
  • Completes annual evaluation of EMA positions related to market salary survey data, years of experience analyses, ACA workforce analysis and other required regulatory reporting.
  • Creates clear financial reports, analyzes data, and provides conclusions in response to routine or ad hoc inquiries from leadership.
  • Takes the lead role in annual medical group physician expense budget preparation.
  • Provides analysis of budget outcomes, including budget to actual variance.
  • Works closely with the health system’s finance department with regard to physician expenses and how they impact the larger organization, including bonus accruals.  
  • Works closely with the Physician Performance Analytics Manager to support productivity analysis.
  • Acts as a point person for HRIS/Payroll systems relating to all EMA compensation functions, payroll reporting, etc.
  • Conducts monthly, bi-weekly and ad-hoc reports needed for compliance and analyses.
  • Reviews and recommends salary placement as requested by leadership.
  • Communicates with physicians with regard to bonus awards and calculation of bonus awards.  
  • Takes the lead role in evaluating, recommending, implementing, and maintaining physician compensation software, as required. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge and understanding of physician compensation elements and productivity metrics including work relative value units
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize multiple tasks/projects; ability to influence and negotiate
  • Knowledge of Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining physician referrals, anti-kickback, fraud and abuse, and tax exemption
  • Problem solving, project management and teamwork skills
