Job Objective:

Assists the Director with the daily operations and essential support functions of the Medical Staff Services Department. Ensure smooth flow of credentialing, preparation and execution of activities related to Medical Staff Services Department. Acts as a resource for the Director as well as the Medical Staff and provides ongoing guidance to the Medical Staff Support Staff

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance with policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Coordination of the processing of applications, appointments and administrative support for medical staff and health professionals (more than
  • Serves as a liaison in ensuring medical staff application appointments, privileges, credentialing and administrative support services for the medical staff and APPs are coordinated in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Guides and assists Medical Staff support staff including coaching and training, facilitates cross-training of department support staff for adequate office coverage and provides coverage where required.
  • Manages and oversees the physician contracts with Legal Department keeping the Director involved and informed of any initiations and changes.
  • Oversees and prepares ED call stipends, proctoring and all other payments to medical staff.
  • Coordinates, gathers, and reports metrics for quality improvement and other purposes as designated by the Medical Staff Services Director.
  • Assists in arranging/attending medical staff meetings, agendas and minutes, and coordinates and monitors follow-up items from those meetings.
  • Shares knowledge with staff of requirements of Medical Staff, federal and state regulatory requirements, Medical Staff Bylaws and certification requirements.
  • Subject matter expert for staff for Echo data base and Epic applications in management of physician and day-to-day operations and reports.
  • Coordinates with Quality Department to ensure facilitation of both Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation (OPPE) and Focused Professional Practice Evaluation (FPPE).
  • Continuously evaluates work process and design; understands role in ensuring quality/performance improvement, productivity and service delivery to meet stakeholder needs.
  • Supports the President of the Medical Staff, Department Chairs, Section Chiefs and Chief Medical Officer in the context of their responsibilities and credentialing roles.
  • Serves as key liaison to clinical department administrators, department heads and other personnel regarding the credentialing processes.
  • Development of privilege criteria and delineation of privilege forms to ensure that all credentialing is a criteria-based system.
  • Oversees and assists Director to implement administrative and clerical policies and procedures related to the medical staff.
  • Ensures efficient utilization of hospital resources.
  • Along with Director is the SME for questions related to TJC, Federal and State Regulations or other accreditation agencies standards of care related to Medical Staff

  • Understands and apply general financial and budgetary processes, principles and planning
  • Understands department and institution policies and implementation of these policies within prescribed limits of authority
  • Understands principles of record keeping and confidentiality (including HIPAA compliance)
  • Knowledge and ability to create excellence in service
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical staff-related databases and electronic management of credentialing data/information and physician contracts
