  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • This position is responsible for the coordination and scheduling of referrals of all medical programs at Renker Wellnes Center (RWC) including cardiac rehab, heart failure, and pulmonary rehab.

    • Education
      • Preferred: Some college preferred
    • Licensure/Certification
      • N/A
    • Experience
      • Required: 1 year recent experience in a clinic/ambulatory care setting, preferably with insurance authorization experience
      • Preferred: Experience with electronic scheduling and insurance authorization
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Coordinates and facilitates all incoming referrals to RWC medical programs. In addition, works with clinicians for transfer referrals in/out of RWC programs.
    • In collaboration with the clinical team, schedules and maintains the calendar for all medical programs at RWC.
    • Obtains pertinent patient demographic and insurance information prior to scheduled appointments. Works closely with pre-registration to identify and solve any issues. Provides enrollees accurate, timely information related to out of pocket costs/coverage.
    • Contacts participants that have failed appointments to re-schedule. Communicates any concerns to clinical team and/or leadership.
    • Obtains all necessary pre-authorization in a timely manner, including working with physician office staff.
    • Follows up on phone messages and call backs in timely manner.
    • Understands the purpose and documentation of payable diagnosis and ICD coding with ability to communicate effectively to RWC clinical team and as appropriate, physicians.
    • Escalates to clinical team and/or director when extraordinary issues arise.
    • Requests medical record data from referring offices and organizations as needed for enrollment in RWC programs.
    • Demonstrates adaptability to a changing, fast paced environment with team spirit.
    • Manages special projects as directed
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
