Job Objective:

Oversees Patient Transport and enhances customer relations using positive service and oriented interactions. Assists with JCAHO compliance and acts as resource to the Patient Transport services team.

Job Description:

Education:

Required: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree

Licensure/Certification:

Required: American Heart Association BLS

Experience:

Required: Two (2) years of related work experience in healthcare, patient care and/or supervising others in a service-related field

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Participates in staff selecting process; interviews candidates as needed.
  • Schedules days off, holidays, and vacations; ensures that facility’s needs are met in accordance with hours and position control.
  • Assigns personnel established work areas or project duties; plans and coordinates projects to ensure that proper transports are managed and tracked.
  • Ensures staff receives proper orientation, initial training, and on-going education.
  • Ensures daily job duties are revised and current at all times; reviews job duties with regular and relief associates periodically.
  • Ensures that proper supply control guidelines are followed and staff is trained in the use of all chemicals, to properly clean and sanitize transport wheel chairs, gurneys, or cars/vans.
  • Proactively identifies and corrects facility quality assurance concerns; timely follow up is required.
  • Provides and monitors individual guidance and motivation to associates to enable each one to perform to their fullest potential.
  • Keeps records and appropriate log books current and maintains all necessary documentation; monitors service binders in assigned areas on a daily basis taking appropriate action.
  • Participates in facility Quality Assurance Program when required.
  • Assigns equipment to staff; monitors daily equipment use, cleaning and maintenance.
  • Ensures that all department owned equipment is clean and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Responds to concerns and requests with a sense of urgency and takes necessary corrective action including timely follow-up.
  • Participates in associate performance evaluations and makes recommendations as needed; conducts disciplinary meetings in collaboration with manager/director.
  • Participates in department safety and maintains a safe work environment at all times.
  • Reports all unsafe equipment and activities to appropriate manager/director.
  • Ensures the office, storage, and closets are clean, organized, maintained and professional in appearance at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
