Education

Required: Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved School of Sonography

Licensure/Certification

Required: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS); American Heart Association BLS

CC7670 Radiology Ultrasound: Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification by ARDMS or Registered Vascular Specialist (RVS) certification by Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) within six (6) months of hire

CC7588 EDCC OP Cardiovascular Testing: RVT certification by ARDMS or RVS certification by CCI upon hire

CC7633 Breast Center (ELCCC): Breast (BR) certification by ARDMS within six (6) months of hire

Experience

Preferred: Experience in scanning of general, vascular or breast exams; hospital experience

Essential Responsibilities
-
Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
-
Performs Sonographic images of the highest technical quality.
-
Uses Universal Precautions in all situations per policy and procedure.
-
Obtains appropriate medical history before patient examination and prepares patient for exam.
-
Follows department protocols for each exam.
-
Documents any changes in patient condition using appropriate forms and contacts Registered Nurse (RN) when necessary.
-
May be required to assist radiologist and RN in applicable ultrasound procedures as needed.
-
Keeps patient informed of exam procedures, delays, and allows patient to ask questions regarding the procedure; provides explanations of procedures and equipment.

Keeps open communication with physicians and staff on patient exam, delays, concerns and care.
-
Sets up sterile trays and assists the radiologist in invasive procedures with Ultrasound guidance.
-
Uses all applicable ultrasound equipment and reports all deficiencies to leadership.

Appropriately documents in PACS, EPIC, required forms and billing.
-
Prioritizes procedures and utilizes time wisely to complete daily workload within the scheduled shift.
-
May be required to work additional shifts, different shifts or at satellite locations as needed.

Maintains cleanliness of all ultrasound rooms, machines and control area.
-
Enters correct charges and supplies in the computer.
-
Gives accurate and detailed interpretations of exams.
