Job Description:

Education:

Required: Bachelor’s degree or higher level degree in Physical Therapy (PT) if hired after July 1, 2026
Preferred: Master’s degree or Doctorate degree in PT

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Licensed by the PT Board of the State of California; American Heart Association BLS

Experience:

Required: Four (4) years of Physical Therapist experience
Preferred: Leadership experience

Job Objective:

Plans and manages the services of the Physical Therapy (PT) department in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agency policies, rules and standards. Manages daily operations and leads strategic planning for development of therapy programs, budgets, policies & procedures and educational activities. Assures quality therapy care via performance improvement and quality assurance and provides effective consultation to other healthcare providers.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • In collaboration with Rehabilitation Services leadership, develops departmental goals and objectives.
  • Establishes, implements and maintains policies and procedures for department operation.
  • Determines qualifications, competence levels of staff and standards of performance.
  • Selects, train/orients, manages, coaches, evaluates, and counsels staff.
  • Assesses, plans and implements process improvement strategies; maintains appropriate quality control.
  • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department; participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and with policies and procedures.
  • Ensures a high level of employee, patient and physician satisfaction.
  • Ensures efficiency, productivity and sufficient financial resources, including adequate reserves, to meet all current and projected financial requirements.
  • Manages external communication with physicians and their respective office staff to secure relationship development and retention.
  • Ensures work area productivity meets established goal and is within volume for adjusted expense budget.
  • Maintains Eisenhower’s Press Ganey established percentile goals.
  • Utilizes and communicates age specific data to support staff or completion of tasks and ancillary staff for augmentation of services.
  • Provides direct patient care as assigned.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge, skills, and ability to administer all department modalities, programs, and protocols appropriate to the age of the patients served
  • Knowledge of all phases of physical therapy operations
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines
  • Advanced physical therapy skills
  • Ability to analyze data, read and interpret financial reports
  • Ability to critically analyze a situation and demonstrate decision making skills
  • Ability to communicate with patients, healthcare professionals, and staff to ensure clear and accurate exchange of information
  • Knowledge of regulations regarding various governing agencies (CAP, JCAHO, OSHA, CLIA)
  • Knowledge of financial and productivity standards to ensure sound fiscal management that are consistent with organization goals
  • Ability to develop and maintain interdepartmental relationships
