Education:
Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master’s degree in Nursing
Licensure/Certification:
Required: California RN License; Certification in Infection Control (CIC) within three (3) years of hire/promotion
Experience:
Required: Three (3) years of experience as a RN in acute clinical setting
Preferred: Experience in infection control in a health care setting
Job Objective:
Responsible for assisting in coordinating an effective hospital-wide program for the surveillance including policy/procedure development, infection surveillance, data collection, analysis and reporting, intervention, consultation and coordination of Infection Control Committee activities
Essential Responsibilities:
- Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
- Assists in investigating and reporting hospital-acquired infections.
- Promotes system wide participation in the infection control program.
- Acts as a resource for infection control questions from physicians and hospital staffs.
- Collect, analyze and report infection control information and results throughout medical staff and hospital committee structures.
- Assist with other Quality Improvement processes and Risk Management issues.
- Coordinates Quality Improvement studies as directed.
- Assists to prepare and maintain policies and procedures related to Infection Control, which insure hospital’s compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies.
- Presents orientation and in-service programs for hospital staff.
- Serves as member of hospital committees as assigned: Safety Committee, Infection Prevention, Education Committee, P&T Committee, Valve Analysis and others as needed.
- Serves as a resource to other EMC entities for infection control and related issues.
- Administer immunizations to staff and/or patients, as needed.
- Support the Magnet culture by coordinating nursing quality programs related to hand hygiene and other pertinent infection prevention practices.
- In collaboration with Medical Director of Infectious Disease and Epidemiologist drafts the annual Infection Control Plan and Report to be approved at the Infection Control Committee.
