Job Objective:

Responsible for making quality beverages, generally specialty hot drinks, preparing food orders, working the cash register, and cleaning and stocking the store. Baristas must do all of these tasks quickly and efficiently while also making sure to form good customer relationships.

Job Description:

Education:

Preferred: High school diploma, GED or higher level degree

Licensure/Certification:

Required: Riverside County Food Handler’s Card or ServSafe Certificate

Experience:

Preferred: Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service, prior café or coffee shop, and/or retail

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of all the menu offerings.
  • Educates customers by presenting and explaining the coffee drink menu; answering questions.
  • Prepare and serve coffee and tea drinks that meet quality standards.
  • Accurately handle cash and credit card payments, following appropriate cash-handling policies and procedures.
  • Respond to orders, questions, concerns, and complaints in a polite and efficient manner.
  • Cleans and restocks work area throughout the day. Maintains standards for sanitation and cleanliness by following standards for “clean as you go” and scheduled routine cleaning.
  • Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard.
  • Exhibits pleasant and cheerful demeanor and maintains a helpful attitude towards employees, physicians, patients, and visitors.
  • Be able to listen to coworker’s feedback Positive/Negative.
  • Able to take initiative on a daily basis.
  • Communicates any product shortage to appropriate personal.
  • Adheres to facility confidentiality and patient’s rights policy as outlined in the facility’s HIPAA policies and procedures.
  • Contributes customer satisfaction goals by providing quality service.
  • Wears name tag identification.
  • Complies with regulatory agency standards, including federal, state, county and local.
  • Complies with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures.
  • Maintains a clean, sanitary working environment.
  • Follows HACCP guidelines when receiving, assembling and distributing food supplies to ensure quality and safety of food supply.
  • Identifies and utilizes cleaning chemicals following directions recommended by manufacturers and per SDS sheets.
  • Utilizes equipment in performing job functions according to department’s safety procedures.
  • Follows facility, department, Morrison and Compass safety policies and procedures to include incident reporting.
  • Follows facility and departmental infection control policies and procedures.
  • Follows the facility’s protocols for Hazardous Materials and Waste Program.
  • Safety meeting once a month with assigned

Essential Skils:

  • Attends training and development classes and work site meetings as required by manager
  • Provides excellent customer service to all guests
  • Must be able to perform service recovery
  • Written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work flexible hours that include early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights and possible holidays
  • Assists in maintaining organized storage of dry goods, refrigerated and frozen products
  • Working knowledge of food handling, preparation, production, food safety and sanitation

  • Assists in the cross training of employees as required by manager
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
  • Cleaning duties could include, but are not limited to: equipment, utensils, dining area, floors, walls, and storage areas
  • Able to work under pressure and maintains a calm demeanor at all times
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to understand recipes, production sheets, and inventories
  • Wears the prescribed uniform & maintains a professional appearance at all times
  • Assists in proper labeling, dating, and rotation of product in dry storage, and coolers
  • Prepares specialty drinks, food products, and handles cash
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment; ability to perform job safely
