Requirements & Curriculum
Our Nurse Residency Program provides the opportunity for professional growth as you transition from a student into your first patient care role as an Eisenhower Health RN.
Application Requirements:
- California Registered Nurse license
- Nursing degree completion within the prior 11 months
- Nursing degree – BSN or MSN degree preferred
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association
Program Length:
One (1) Year
Curriculum and Activities
- Two-week nursing and program orientation
- Monthly seminars – 8 hours for education, training, simulation, research, and networking
- 9 weeks of preceptorship for inpatient residents
- 12 weeks of preceptorship for critical care units & ED residents
- Constructive preceptor & educator feedback & evaluation processes
- Professional & personal goal setting
- Community outreach
- Shared governance participation
- Nursing research council participation
- Our ANCC, PTAP is an evidence-based criteria program
- Field trip observations in inpatient & outpatient specialty areas
- Professional organization participation
- Pressure injury survey participation
- Debriefing & mentorship
- Networking & resident group collaboration
- Collaboration & training with medical residents
- The ANCC, PTAP has demonstrated excellence in transitioning nurses to new practice settings
