  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Under limited supervision, produce high quality screening and diagnostic exams, DEXA exams, educating patients regarding the scheduled exam, accurately documenting the completed exams in the EHR and imaging reporting system, assisting the radiologist with breast ultrasound biopsies, stereotactic biopsies and breast localizations.  Performing high quality breast ultrasound exams under limited supervision and documenting and reporting accurate findings to the radiologist. This position is assigned at main campus and satellite facilities.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Graduate of an Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) approved School of Radiologic Technology
      • Preferred: Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) approved School of Sonography in addition to JRCERT approved School of Radiologic Technology
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – Radiology (R); ARRT – Mammography (M); ARRT – Breast sonography (BS) or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) – Breast (BR); California Radiologic Technologist (CRT) – Radiology; CRT – Mammography and American Heart Association BLS

    • Experience
      • Required: Minimum three (3) years as a Mammography Technologist II or two (2) years as a licensed Breast Sonographer

  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations.
    • Trains Mammo Tech II in Breast Ultrasound.
    • Assist radiologist and nurses in procedures, to include: Breast localizations, Stereotactic Biopsy, Ultrasound Guided Core Biopsy, Contrast-enhanced spectral mammography (CESM) and Dutograms, as needed:

      a. Timeout
      b. Holding Pressure over biopsy site
      c. Explain post procedure instructions
      d. Apply pressure dressing over biopsy site
      e. Other duties as requested

    • Perform bone density screening as assigned.
    • Present exams to Radiologists using the appropriate medical terminology.
    • Change exams in EPIC as requested by the radiologist, obtain new order if needed.
    • Trains staff in the areas of DEXA and Mammography.
    • Completes all required billing and documentation accurately and timely in Magview, EPIC and PACS. Complete Quality Control/Quality Assurance QC/QA daily, weekly, and Monthly for mammography equipment, DEXA equipment, biopsy equipment and Ultrasound equipment.
    • Able to interact compassionately and effectively with patients providing a Five Star experience by reducing anxieties; providing explanations of procedures and equipment, and answering questions.
    • Obtains appropriate medical history required (patient and family) before procedure is started.
    • Explains comparative film review obtaining film release as appropriate.
    • Maintains cleanliness of all radiology equipment and rooms.
    • Follows department timekeeping procedures using KRONOS.
    • Travel between main campus and satellite facilities.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
