  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: High School Diploma
      • Preferred: Successful completion of Surgical Technologist Program, or Associate of Science degree with a major in natural sciences
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: American Heart Association BLS
      • Preferred: Certified Surgical Technologist
    • Experience
      • Preferred: One (1) year in the Operating Room or Sterile Processing, or experience working in materials management or direct patient care
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Coordinates and delivers complete case carts to OR suites for patient procedures
    • Delivers supplies and instruments to OR suites
    • Provides orientation and competencies related to sterile core activities
    • Checks case carts in a timely manner for readiness and completeness
    • Assists with inventory counts and supply outdates
    • Reads, understands, and assists in updating preference cards
    • Picks sterile supplies, suture, and instruments stored in core
    • Keeps sterile storage in center core in good working order
    • Assists in keeping the core survey-ready at all times
    • Assists in keeping the core survey-ready at all times
    • Works with MSC in maintaining accurate supply PAR levels
    • Works directly with CSP Techs assigned to case picking
    • Works directly with CSP Supervisor to facilitate items needing turn-over for to-follow cases
    • Works directly with the surgical team through collaboration to achieve safe efficient patient care
    • Responsible for coordinating early release of instruments in the event of an emergency
    • Transports patients, supplies, specimens, blood and equipment as requested
    • Assists in pre-op patient readiness to include but not limited to patient prep and clip
    • Assists in holding patient extremities for surgical preparations as directed
    • Ensures positioning devices are available in the appropriate rooms for cases
    • Completes errands and relays messages as directed
    • Properly handles and transports surgical specimens as directed
    • Performs turnover duties between cases in collaboration with the housekeeper, to include cleaning medical equipment following manufacturer IFUs
    • Assists nursing team by opening sterile supplies as directed
    • Demonstrates proper aseptic technique
    • Ensures appropriate equipment is placed in rooms in preparation for surgical cases
    • Obtains necessary equipment and positioning aids for scheduled cases
    • Participates in hospital safety programs
    • Supports and enforces infection control policies and procedures
    • Maintains patient and medical staff confidentiality as well as HIPAA compliance
    • Restocks warmers, rotates fluids and checks expiration dates
    • Contributes to maximum efficiency of the surgical schedule by facilitating on-time case starts and efficient, timely turnovers
    • Properly handles and disposes of sharps, biohazardous waste, regular trash and contaminated linens
    • Demonstrates compliance with Code of Conduct and compliance policies, and takes action to resolve compliance questions or concerns and report suspected violations
    • Performs other duties as assigned
