  • Job Objective: A brief overview of the position.
    • Plans and manages the services of the Physical Therapy department in the outpatient Dolores Hope area in accordance with applicable Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agency policies, rules and standards.

  • Qualifications
    • Education
      • Required: Bachelor’s Degree or higher
    • Licensure/Certification
      • Required: CA Physical Therapist license, American Heart Association BLS
    • Experience
      • Required: Three (3) years of experience in physical therapy with minimum of one (1) year experience in an outpatient physical therapy clinic
      • Preferred: Experience in outpatient neuro PT and previous leadership experience
  • Essential Responsibilities
    • Develops departmental goals and objectives. Establishes, implements and maintains policies and procedures for department operation.
    • Recommends a sufficient number of qualified and competent staff to provide care and/or department services.
    • Determines qualifications, competence levels of staff and standards of performance.
    • Selects, train/orients, directs, coaches, evaluates, and counsels staff.
    • Assesses, plans and implements process improvement strategies; maintains appropriate quality control.
    • Recommends space and other resources needed by the department; participates in selecting outside sources for needed services.
    • Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and with policies and procedures
    • Ensures a high level of employee, patient and physician satisfaction.
    • Ensures efficiency, productivity and sufficient financial resources, including adequate reserves, to meet all current and projected financial requirements.
    • Role models the organization values.
    • Completes Performance Measurement Report timely on a monthly basis.
    • Manages external communication with physicians and their respective office staff to secure relationship development and retention.
    • Maintains Eisenhower Medical Center Press Ganey at 87th percentile.
    • Ensures work area is within volume for adjusted expense budget
    • Ensures work area productivity meets established goal.
    • Utilizes and communicates age specific data to support staff or completion of tasks and ancillary staff for augmentation of services.
    • Utilizes appropriate evaluation procedures and techniques appropriate to age of all patients ranging in age from neonatal to geriatric (neonatal and pediatrics based on competency assessment) with respect to patient problem/diagnosis, emotional needs, growth and development stages, and age specific data. Recognizes patients’ psychological development and modifies approaches for the above identified patients. Identifies increased physical/emotional dependency needs and evaluates availability of support system for the above defined patients. Assesses patients for signs and symptoms of abuse/neglect and refers to appropriate personnel and/or community service.
    • Establishes and pursues effective treatment programs appropriate to the age of all patients neonatal to geriatric (neonatal and pediatrics based on competency assessment) in accordance with corporate/hospital/department guidelines for procedures, growth and development stages, emotional needs and response to treatment.
    • Plans for Safe Comprehensive Discharge. Recognizes potential lifestyles changes resulting from illness that will interfere with the discharge plan and develops safe comprehensive discharge plan.
    • Provides thorough, timely, professional, and consistent patient care documentation through HED.
    • Documents evals., re-evals. progress notes, and D/C summaries per dept. policies
    • Documents and adheres to # of treatments/authorized treatments
    • Demonstrates appropriate, timely, and professional report writing to physicians
    • Consistently updates weekly goals and SOAP notes per department policy
    • Documentation demonstrates minimal to no grammatical errors, typos, etc.
    • Provides clear documentation for missed treatments, gaps in treatment, etc.
    • Documentation clearly indicates medical necessity and clinical progression towards safe/comprehensive D/C
    • Demonstrates competency in utilizing all reports to manage caseload proactively
